Grateful for Prison Professors

March 25, 2025

This forum has made it possible for me to re-connect with a former student. Through his writings, I have learned so much about the criminal justice system, and seen his astonishing personal growth and the deep wisdom he has gained through his experiences and this program. Supporting those who have paid their debt to society, and who have overcome incredible obstacles to move forward in a positive way with their lives, is an invaluable service. Reading about his experiences and insights is humbling as well as hopeful: most people will leave prison one day, and we will all benefit from their success when they are again trying to navigate the world. Prison Professors is a great tool for helping all of us understand our common humanity with compassion and empathy. Through his writings, I’ve become fully convinced that this man will move forward with positivity, and is fully deserving of a chance to thrive. He will.
