2/16/2025 Sunday daily diary from Atwater Camp.
Woke up at 5:00 AM. Made up my bed, cleaned up, changed to BOP uniform and made a cup of coffee. The morning started out dark, cloudy, hazy and cold – 44 degrees F. The lower atmosphere was hazy, cloudy with clearing in the Southeast and West horizon, light breeze made the temperature colder. The autonomous car company had their facility and flood light turned on, they tested their vehicles at night and were maintaining their equipment. Rabbits were grazing on the soccer and baseball fields, while Labrona and family were grazing by the fence near the soccer field. The beautiful dawn sky was on display: red band of haze striated with gray clouds, analogous colors peeking over the Sierras mixed with streaks of gray clouds, the 3/4 moon was in mid sky at 1 o’clock and it was further South in the Western horizon. After breakfast, the birds appeared and inmates left their food on the ground and basketball court. The birds feasted on their food and foraged in the fields. As the morning progressed, the moon moved in and out of the clouds, which was moving Eastwards. As the sun rise over the Sierras it moved in and out of the clouds and changed colors as it ascended through the haze and changing the colors of the clouds to mauve and peach colors, it illuminated the outline of the Sierras and warmed the air. I walked on the soccer field trail and not on the baseball field trail because it was muddy. Completed walking 3 miles and jogged the final three miles at 7:40 AM, in 1 hour 12 minutes and 25 seconds. Average walking times were: 12 minutes and 5 seconds per mile or 2 minutes and 1second per lap. Stretched, split stretched and practiced Yoga at the basketball in the morning sunshine until 9:00 AM. The stretch and Yoga practice felt good after the cold morning walk. I was able to exercise all phases: strength, flexibility, balance and breathing. Finished my Yoga practice with the corpse pose and visualized the beautiful dawn sky and colorful sun rise with the 3/4 moon setting in the West. Opened my eyes to the blue sky with scattered clouds. I could not call Doris this morning because I have used up my 300 allocated minutes. I could not use the prepaid minutes that Doris paid on her iPhone either. BOP is working to allow 200 additional prepaid minutes but it is still in the works. Lunch was served at 9:30 AM. The pipe leak in the mass hall was not fixed. So they provided our luncheon in a to go container. Luncheon menu: fried eggs, toast with syrup, fries, apple and water. I ate my lunch in the dormitory. Census count at 10:00 AM. Showered and changed to casual clothes at 10:15 AM. Checked email from Doris at 10:40 AM: Doris is well and rested. She walked 9359 steps, 17.3 inches step length and symmetry was 7.6%. Yesterday was the 378th consecutive days she closed the ring on her iPhone. She understood that I had used up the 300 allocated phone minutes and could not call her until 2/22/2025 when I get an additional 300 minutes. In the meantime she will just wait. She is keeping the household intact. No GSW basketball game because of the All Star games today. GSW will play again on Wednesday after the All Star break. Had a long nap. Went to library to work on my Book Report – Can AI read your mind? Census count at 3:30 PM. Dinner was served after the count. Dinner menu to go: chicken fried rice, carrots, beans, bread and water. I ate my dinner in the dormitory. Completed my Book Report – Can AI Read your mind? Census count at 7:00 PM. Census count at 8:00 PM. Cleaned up at 9:00 PM. Final Census count at 9:30 PM. Went to bed at 10:00 PM.
