Yesterday, life here seemed so full of static. My favorite truth about this life we are living, is that we have a fresh beginning each new day.
I began mine on the recreation yard in the middle of the field, all alone. As I sat still, clearing away the thoughts that tend to run through my mind the morning after a difficult day, I pictured myself out in the middle of the ocean- no land in sight- only black water, dark blue, star-speckled sky. I recalled the peace that comes with that water. I noticed my breath, felt my heart return to a place of love and gratitude. Suddenly, I heard a bird squawking on the ground. I peeked my eyes to see her and never in my life can I remember ever noticing the wonder of how much sound a small bird can generate.
In theory, one of the practices of mindfulness is when we observe nature- this can be difficult here in this treeless land, and so I found my heart to be filled with enormous gratitude for this noisy little bird.
No matter where you find yourself today, make a point to notice something miraculous in nature. Celebrate life every day.
Sit with yourself and find a way to allow your difficult or negative thoughts to fly away.
