The next day, November 19th, I began to take charge of my surroundings and realized I needed to take control of my environment. I noticed that the cell I was in, 107, had multiple large, 4-foot murals of nude women. I knew this wouldn’t be good for my mental health, so I requested cleaning supplies like Ajax and a scrubbing pad.
After I received the cleaning supplies, I introduced myself to my fellow cellmates and offered my services as a wall cleaner. It took a few days to hone my craft using the Ajax and the scrubber. I discovered that toothpaste could loosen permanent marker and pen writing, and an old toothbrush made a great deep cleaner.
Within a few days, I received my first request to clean all four walls of our neighboring cells.
