What book most influenced you to begin building a pathway to prepare for success?
I have read quite a few books on all different types of subjects about preparing for success. Family, financials, business, Co-dependency, The Big Book for AA, The NA Big Book, self-esteem and self-worth and the list goes on.
As I have said in my Bio I am a deaf individual who has to deal with all sorts of inmates and staff picking on me and trying to bring down the values I have for myself. Try to pound on my self-esteem. You want to know what book has helped the most. The Bible. God’s word. Proverbs 12:25 “Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down, But a good word makes it glad.
Now the Bible is broken down into 66 Books. 27 in the New Testament and 39 in the Old Testament. And they all play a certain part into our daily lives. I’m gonna break it down and talk about one of my favorite books in the Bible the Book of Romans written by the apostle Paul. Roman’s is a preeminent book when it comes to crucial topics such as salvation and faith. These are some strong topics to understand while being in prison. It is a practical exhortation about how to live in joyful obedience.
Paul begins this letter by addressing the necessity of obeying the Lord with love and humility. He reminds us that it is through Jesus Christ that we receive eternal life as well as grace for each circumstance we face (like my current circumstance being an inmate of the Federal Bureau of Prisons). It is his salvation that sets us free from the power of sin. (How I ended up in my current circumstance). Until we come to a point where we acknowledge our need of a Savior we cannot appreciate the gracious gifts God has given us. The final section which is Chapters 12 through 16 is my favorite part because it describes how people saved by grace through faith in Christ should live and behave. With my favorite verse being Chapter 12:2 “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind so that you may prove what the will of God is that which is good acceptable and perfect.”
