Journal Entry

Woke up at 5:30 AM. Made my bed, Cleaned up, and made some strong coffee. Watched the weather report. Breakfast at 6:05 AM, which included: Cereal, muffins, milk, and milk.

Plan for today:

  1. Pick up commissary items @ 7:00 PM.
  2. Read and help Chad with laundry duties.
  3. Medical call out @ 12:30 PM.
  4. Walk 6 miles.
  5. Apply ice treatment to ribs, hands, and wrist.
  6. Daily Diary at the camp.

Went to the library to read from 7:00 – 8:30 AM. Picked up commissary items at 8:45 AM. Resume reading from 9:00 – 9:45 AM. Lunch at 10:00 AM. Lunch menu: chicken burrito, beans, corn, chocolate mouse, punch, and water. Called Doris at 10:50 AM. She told me that the house cleaners were there cleaning because Thomas Johnson’s secretary was supposed to do a welfare check on Doris on Friday. I told Doris to make sure she returned my passport. She sounded better and pretty upbeat about the treatment Dr. Jasmine Lee prescribed. She asked bout my ribs and I told her it is getting better and it will take some time to get well. The ice treatment helps with the pain and my mobility. Also the ibuprofen 200 mg also help manage the pain. She told me she talked to Michael Santos. He informed her that the website was up and ready to populate with my journal. Doris told him that our computer room was closed because contraband was found in it, Michael said that it is normal procedure to close it down as a sanction for the contraband. It probably will reopen again next week. Doris informed me that she sent a few emails to me, but will not have access to them for a week.

Went back to the library at 10:45 – 12:30 AM to resume my reading. Attended my medical evaluation. They did a medical evaluation of my health and concluded I have the following ailments:

  • High heart rate 152/76.
  • Enlarged prostate.
  • Pain from a previous injury. The high blood pressure was probably due to high salt concentration and possibly my intake of coffee.

The doctor prescribed:

  • High blood pressure medications.
  • Medication for enlarged prostate.
  • 800 mg Ibuprofen for pain management. also requested a check-up with the eye specialist to ensure that the high blood pressure is not affecting my eyesight.

The prescription drugs will probably be ready in a couple of weeks as they are shipped out from Louisiana. In addition, he recommended a complete blood test as well as an eye examination because of my elevated blood pressure. All the information will be in my record. Completed the examination at 12: 45 PM. Continue reading from 12:50 -2:30 PM. Went back to the unit to watch the NBA draft and found out that Jordan Poole was traded to the Wizards for Chris Paul.

Played some cribbage. Headcount at 3:30 PM. Dinner at 3:45 PM, Dinner menu: Turkey, salad, gravy, beet, and punch. Walked 5 miles on the track, and my ribs were still sore. 6:00 PM mail call. I received five packages: Post Conviction remedies, Release Plan, Success after prison, 2 complete Yoga books, People Smart, people communication, and my release plan.

I applied ice treatment to my ribs, hands, and wrist. Watched the NBA draft and played some cribbage with Jon and Yang. From the doctors’ diagnosis of my high blood pressure, I found out that I have been drinking too much coffee, the last few days thus the elevated pressure. I used about three times the amount of coffee. I was consuming coffee in the morning and afternoon and it was causing frequent trips to the bathroom, because of its diuretic effect. That I believe coupled with the salt content probably caused blurred vision for me.  Cleaned up and showered at 8:15 PM. Headcount at 8:45 PM. Watched more NBA drafts. Final headcount at 9:30 PM. Went to bed at 10:00 PM. This is a good day, I found out about my health status from the medical examination and the cause of my high blood pressure on my eyesight. Also received all the packages in the mail. Things are looking up.
