Today I was unofficially notified by a fellow camper that I was approved as one of three campers designated as a Camp Town Driver. This is good news!
According to others I trust, this role requires a good track record, integrity, ethics and a drivers license, and is perceived as a good nod by the warden and staff. The job is to drive inmates from the medium side to the train station when they are released. The train station is about 2 miles away, and I will have a GPS and potentially a phone to use if needed during the drive. I have not heard any negative stories or of something happening to the driver when performing this role.
