The morning started out dark, cloudy, breezy, foggy and cold – 44 degrees F. The lower atmosphere was overcast except for a clearing in the Southeast and South horizons, the fog was thick with visibility of 1/2 mile and the strong breeze made the temperature cooler. The autonomous car company had its facility and flood light on and they were testing their vehicles. Rabbits were grazing on the soccer and baseball fields, while Labrona and family were grazing by the fence near the basketball court. The beautiful dawn sky with its red layer of haze and analogous colors over the haze and the Sierras and the thick gray clouds. The birds were on the roof and perched on fences waiting for their breakfast. They feasted on bread and apples discarded by the inmates. There must be a couple of hundred birds in the flock. As the sun rise over the Sierras, it illuminated the Sierras giving it depth amid the red haze, brightened the sky, cast a reddish and orange tints for clouds near its path and warmed the air. As it ascended the orange sphere was shielded by the thick clouds. Finished walking 6 miles at 7:40 AM, in 1 hour 14 minutes and 32 seconds. Average walking times were: 12 minutes and 26 seconds per mile or 2 minutes and 5 seconds per lap. Stretched, split stretched and practiced Yoga at the basketball court until 8:50 AM. The fog started to roll into the camp and reduced the visibility to a couple of hundred feet. The stretch and Yoga practice felt good after the cold morning walk. I was able to exercise all phases: strength, flexibility, balance and breathing. Finished my Yoga practice with the corpse pose and visualized the beautiful dusk sky and spectacular sunset from last week. These are some of the simple pleasures that I can still enjoy even though I am incarcerated. Opened my eyes to the cloudy sky with thick dense fog. Some warehouse staff came back to the camp anticipating a fog count but the CO told us there will not be a fog count this morning. Cleaned the computer room. Showered and changed to BOP uniform at 9:20 AM. Counselor Reyes informed me that we will have a new self surrender inmate and assigned him to bunk # 52U. He also assigned Lee to bunk #2L. Talked to Doris at 9:30 AM: Doris is well and rested. She called Mike’s Appliance and they cannot make a service call until next Thursday. So Doris called another repairman recommended by Oralia. The repairman will come by the house today to look at it this morning. She will try to have the washed fixed, otherwise she will have to bring her laundry to the laundromat. The GSW will play the Cavaliers tonight in San Francisco, it will be a tough game for GSW as the Cavalier is the number one team in the NBA. I will be busy with my tutoring today. Checked email from Doris at 9:40 AM: Doris is well and rested. She walked 8764 steps, 16.5 inches step length and symmetry was 7.8%. Yesterday was the 330h consecutive days she closed the ring on her iPhone. She will contact the repair man to have the washer fixed soon. The Warriors are playing the Cavaliers tonight. Did my personal laundry. Lunch was served at 10:20 AM. Luncheon menu: beef tacos, black beans, rice, corn, apple and water. Went to the sewing room: exchanged 38X32 pants for Higgins, repaired pants for Felipe and stored boxes for Chan. Completed my laundry. Informed Lee that he was assigned to bunk #2L. GED tutoring 12:00 – 3:00 PM. Informed students who are ready to take the ServSafe examination that the test is on 1/9/2025 at 8:00 AM. Repaired pants for Julian and prepared bus bag for new inmate. The sun came out around noon an it turned out to be a nice days with little clouds but breezy. Census count at 3:30 PM. Dinner was served after the count. Dinner menu: Pizza, spaghetti with marinara sauce, salad and water. Census count at 7;00 PM.. Census count at 8;00 PM. Cleaned up at 9:00 PM. Final Census count at 9:30 PM. Went to bed at 10:00 PM.
