12/5/2023 Tuesday daily diary from Atwater Camp.
Woke up at 5:30 AM. Made up my bed, cleaned up, changed to BOP uniform and made a cup of coffee. Stretched, drank my coffee and watched the local news and weather report, high temperature for today is 64 Degrees F. Started walking at 6:30 AM. Breakfast was served at 6:10 AM. Breakfast menu: Cereal, muffin, banana and punch.

- Walk 6 Miles.

- ACE Classes – ART History 1 5-6 PM (Hosting) and Western History of Civilization 6-6:30 PM.
- GED Tutoring 12-2:30 PM.
Finished first four miles in 51 minutes and 25 seconds. Completed the final two miles in 26 minutes and 8 seconds. Average walking times were: first four miles – 12 minutes and 18 seconds per mile (milla) or 2 minutes and 3 seconds per lap (vuelta) that was a fast walk ( A caminar rapido). Final tow miles were – 13 minutes and 4 seconds per mile or 2 minutes and 12 seconds per lap. The morning walk started out dark but cool. The rabbits were busy grazing on the field. Some rabbits are getting used to me as they do not scamper away as I approach them. The dawn sky was beautiful with an array of complementary colors and the dark blue sky. As the sun rise progress, the color became lighter pastel colors. As the sun rise over the horizon, the big orange sphere looked so close and grand. It warmed the air. Finished walking at 8:05 AM. Stretched and split stretched at the basketball court in the morning sunlight. The split stretch seems tougher in the cold weather but It is improving. Rolled my legs and ankle with a foam core roller to ease my aches and pains. Finished stretching at 9:10 AM. Had some crackers for snacks. Checked Doris email and replied to her. Cleaned the computer room. Showered at 9:50 AM. Lunch was served at 10:10 AM. Luncheon menu: chicken sandwich, beans, pasta, punch and an apple. Talked to Doris at 10:30 AM: Doris and Patches are well. They went shopping yesterday. Patches liked the custom orthotics from Roadrunner Sports. They asked what my plans were, I told them I will be doing some sewing, host the Art History 1 Class and GED tutoring. Patches found the scale in the bathroom. They are going to Costco for more shopping. Doris talked to Thomas Johnson, who had no idea about the two point sentence reduction. He will call Doris next week. Doris also talked to Michael Santos and told him we will make a decision next week after we hear back from Thomas Johnson.
Went to sewing room to do some repairs. New greens for Jesse Rice, Pedro, Josue Torres and Ivan Loya. GED tutoring from 12:00 – 2:30 PM. Repaired some sweats for Jesse and Pedro. Back to the unit at 3:20 PM. Census count at 3:30 PM. Dinner was served after the count. Dinner menu: meatloaf, corn, mashed potatoes with gravy and punch. ACE Classes – Art History 1 5-6 PM (Hosting) and Western History of Civilization 6-6:30 PM. Did my laundry at 4:30 PM.
Found out form Michael Santos Release Plan 2023 Workbook – The Second Chance Act of 2008. President Bush signed this law, which authorized the BOP to allow people to serve up to 12 months of their sentence in a residential reentry Center ( Half way house). If the person had a sentence of 60 months or longer, the person could serve the final six months in home confinement; If a person had a sentence of fewer than 60 months, the person could serve the last 10 % of the sentence in home confinement.
Finished my laundry at 6:30 PM. Census count at 7:30 PM. Census count at 8:30 PM. Cleaned up at 9:00 PM. Final Census count at 9:30 PM. Went to bed at 10:00 PM.
Today was a good day: Doris and Patches are well. Patches liked the custom orthotics. Hosted Art History 1. Good GED tutoring. Walked 6 miles and split stretched. Found out more information about the Second Chance Act for Elderly Inmates and about the 2 point Sentence Reduction.
