Journal Entry

11/23/2023 Thursday daily diary from Atwater Camp.
Woke up at 5:40 AM. Made up my bed, cleaned up, changed to BOP uniform and made a cup of coffee. Stretched, drank my coffee and watched the local news and weather report, high temperature for today is 63 degrees F. Started walking at 6:30 AM. Breakfast was served at 6:10 AM. Breakfast menu: Cereal, roll, punch and an apple.

Plan for Today:

1) Stretch.

2) Call Doris.

3) Check email from Doris.

4) Email daily diary for 11/22/2023.

5) Walk 6 Miles.

6) Split stretch.

7) Quotations.

8) Visitation.

Finished walking 6 miles at 8:10 AM, walking time was 1 hour 19 minutes and 12 seconds. Average walk times were – 13 minutes and 4 seconds per mile (milla) or 2 minutes 11 seconds per lap (Vuelta). Walking times were okay for a cool morning. The morning walk started out with the beautiful dawn sky with a little streak of clouds in the sky. The sunrise was beautiful and the orange sphere was bright and big. Called Doris and they were already on their way. Stretched and split stretched at the basketball court in the sunlight until 8:40 AM. Showered and changed to BOP uniform. Called Doris at 9:00 AM but could not connect. Talked to Doris at 9:20 AM: They will be here in an hour around 10:30 – 11:00 AM. Went to the library to practice my Spanish lessons while waiting for them. Census count at 10:20 AM. Luncheon was served after the count. Luncheon menu: Turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, cranberry sauce, dinner rolls, bread, ham, cookies, peanut butter, jelly, apple and punch. Nice turkey day luncheon. Patches and Doris were at the visitation site at 10:50 AM. It was nice to see both of them doing so well. Doris was walking with her soft cast and without the quad cane. I am very pleased with her improvements. Patches is getting used to driving the SUV and learning how to use the GPS. Doris paid an extra $700 to CC Taxes for special tax assessment for 2021. Just an overpayment. Quang will be over in a couple of weeks to look at the leak. They are planning to visit on 12/3/2023. I told them my unit team meeting was scheduled for 12/7/2023 but we will be interviewed between 11/27/2023 – 12/1/2023. I was glad that Doris completed my release plan in time for my unit team review. Patches have been trimming the fig and persimmons trees. I told her she could put the garden waste in the green bin and the brown bin. Brown bin is for everything. She liked the apples from the apple tree new the kitchen. I told her it was Fuji apples and they are very sweet. She is thinking of cutting up the excess fruits and drying them in the food dehydrator. Doris will try to use the stepper with her soft cast. It will help her legs but she has some confidence problem because she fell down from it before. Patches will work with he on the stepper, it will develop her legs. We tried stepping on the floor but her leg muscles are not strong enough to do it. Doris told us that she walked without the cast this morning and her symmetry was down to 27 %. That’s a very good improvement and she is encouraged. Doris’s confidence is improving. Hopefully she will be able to walk with any cast very soon. They asked if the visitation is open for Christmas, I told them that is is open for every Federal Holidays. Doris had her trophy for improving her health and gait, her trophy were: Dr Pepper, Cheddar Cheese chips, kettle potato chips. They left the visitation room at 2:30 PM. Doris was able to walk to the SUV unassisted. It was a very good visitation. Back to the unit at 2:35 PM. Checked and replied to Karlee’s email, they are have fun camping at Half Moon Bay. Census count 3:30 PM. Took a short nap. Talked to Doris at 5:30 PM: They got home safely and it took them about 2 1/2 hours. Doris and Patches enjoyed their drive and private conversation. They are going to watch the news and have dinner. I recommended a nice bottle of Niclaire with their dinner. But they want to finish the bottle that’s opened before embarking on a bottle of Niclaire.
Attended ACE Class – Financial Planning 6-6:30 PM. Census count at 6:40 PM. Census count at 8:00 PM. Cleaned up at 9:00 PM. Final Census count at 9:30 PM. Went to bed at 10:00 PM.
