The morning started out dark, hazy, breezy and cold – 43 degrees F. The lower atmosphere was very hazy with plumes of dark smoke in the Eastern, Southern and Western horizons. Some of the were being blown from the West to the East. The half moon was in mid sky. The autonomous car company was not testing their vehicles this morning. The rabbits were grazing on the soccer and baseball fields, while Labrona and family were grazing by the fence near the basketball court. The beautiful dawn sky was on display: range of red colors formed by the band of haze, the outline of Sierras was covered with red haze, analogous colors radiating out over the Sierras, 3/4 moon in mid sky and the dark blue sky. The birds feasted on the food left by the inmates after breakfast. Streaks of red haze and black some were blowing from the West towards the East. As the sun rise over the Sierras, the red sphere changed colors as it ascended through the haze from: red, orange, yellow and bright yellow. The sun illuminated the sky and warmed the air. Completed walking 6 miles at 7:30 AM, in 1 hour 14 minutes and 10 seconds. Average walking times were: 12 minutes and 22 seconds per mile or 2 minutes and 4 seconds per lap. Stretched, split stretched and practiced Yoga at the basketball court until 8:50 AM. I was able to exercise all phases: strength, flexibility, balance and breathing. Finished my Yoga practice with the corpse pose and visualized the spectacular sunset and dusk sky. Streaks of red haze and dark smoke were blowing from the West toward the East and the analogous colors over the Western horizon.. The colors and scene evolved as the night progressed. Opened my eyes to the hazy blue sky and 1/2 moon in mid sky. Talked to Doris at 9:00 AM: Doris is well and rested. She is still sore from the fall but is feeling better. It was cold in Pinole and it was supposed to rain later. She will stay indoors to walk and work on her Etsy orders. She enjoyed the GSW/Clippers game despite the loss. My barber was still working in the same shop. The Genesis was smogged and registered. I will be busy with GED tutoring and Statistics class. She was looking forward to my class and book reports. I told her probably later this week. Showered and changed to BOP uniform at 9:30 AM. Checked email from Doris at 10:00 AM: Doris is well. She walked 8685 steps, 15.5 inches step length and symmetry was 8.7%. Yesterday was the 289th consecutive days she closed the ring on her iPhone. GSW lost their game last night and hopefully they will start another winning streak soon. She will work on her Etsy orders. Lunch was served at 10:20 AM. Luncheon menu: chicken parmigiana, beans, rice salad, buns, apple and water. Counselor Reyes informed me, we will have a new self surrender inmate today and assigned him to bunk #40U. Had a short nap. Went to sewing room: repaired pants for Romero, put away cleaned uniforms and prepared bus bag for new inmate. GED / Statistics Tutoring 12:00 – 1:45 PM. Statistics class was cancelled because the Penitentiary was on lock down due to stabbing of a CO. Census count at 3:30 PM. Dinner was served after the count. Dinner menu: meat loaf, mashed potatoes with gravy, corn, bread and water. The inmate self surrender date was postponed. Census count at 7:00 PM. Census count at 8:00 PM. Cleaned up at 9:00 PM.
