9/25/2023 Monday daily diary from Atwater Camp.
Woke up at 5:30 AM. Made up my bed, cleaned up, change to BOP uniform and made a cup of coffee. Stretched, drank my coffee and watched the local news and weather report, high temperature for today is 84 Degrees F. Started walking at 6:15 AM. Breakfast was served at 6:20 AM. Breakfast menu: Oatmeal, bread, jelly and apple.
Plan for Today:
- Stretch.
- Call Doris.
- Email daily diary for 9/24/2023.
- Walk 6 miles.
- Quotations.
- ACE Classes – Philosophy of Existentialism 4-4:30 PM, Art History 3 5-5:30 PM and The life of Muhammad 6-6:30 PM.
- Managing your Diabetes 7-8 PM.
Completed first three miles in 39 minutes 11 seconds. Final three miles in 35 minutes and 46 seconds. First three miles averaged 13 minutes 4 seconds per mile or 2 minutes 11 seconds per lap. Final three miles averaged 11 minutes 56 seconds per mile or 1 minute 59 seconds per lap. Not a bod pace for a cold morning. The morning started out cold in the 50’s. The dawn sky was stunning with an array of pastel colors: mauve, fuchsia, yellow, magenta and a dash of light cloud. As the sun rose, the Orange sphere peeked over the Sierra’s and gradually emerged as a glorious orange sphere. It was solitude out on the tracks because of the cold weather except for the rabbits feasting on the grass. Worked up a good sweat. Finished walking at 8:00 AM, stretched at the basket ball court in the morning sun shine until 8:25 AM. What a way to start the morning, oh I practiced some Spanish with inmates on the walking track. Showered at 9:00 AM. Changed to BOP uniform. Got my ServSafe Manager result, I passed with a score of 91. Highest ever score at Atwater under Mrs. Hubbard. Only 9 out of 25 students passed. My next challenge is to learn Spanish and Chinese. Lunch was served at 10:10 AM. Luncheon menu: Tacos, banana, corn and rice. I learnt that I will be teaching the Art History 1 Class, How to Look at and understand Great Art. Talked to Doris at 10:30 AM: Doris is well, she sounded good and cheerful after her visit with Karlee and Chris. I told her about my ServSafe results and she was proud of my accomplishment. I told her I was learning Spanish and she suggested that I learn Chinese too. Chris changed the battery for the dog DE Barker, The dogs were quiet last night but barked at her when she let them out. I told her That I will be teaching the Great Art 1 – beginning class starting next week.
Went to the library at 11:00 AM to study Spanish. Interesting but challenging to learn a new language. But it was fun trying something new and challenging. I think I will do well with Spanish. Back to the unit at 2:30 PM. Dinner was served at 3:00 PM. Dinner menu: spaghetti with ground meat, salad, spinach and bread. ACE Classes Philosophy of Existentialism 4-4:30 PM, Art History 3 5-5:30 PM and Life of Muhammad 6-6:30 PM. Managing your Diabetes 7-8 PM. Census count at 7:15 PM. Census count at 8:30 PM. Cleaned up at 9:00 PM. Final Census count at 9:30 PM. Went to bed at 10:00 PM.
Today was a really good day: Doris, is well and very cheerful. The dogs are well. Karlee and Chris visited Doris yesterday and their visit was good. Chris replaced the battery for the dog De Barker. Passed the ServSafe Manager Examination with top grade. Attended ACE Classes and Managing Your Diabetes. I will be teaching the Art History 1 Class. Started learning Spanish.
