9/23/2024 Monday daily diary from Atwater Camp.
Woke up at 5:30 AM. Made up my bed, cleaned up, changed to BOP uniform and made a cup of coffee. Stretched, drank my coffee and watched the local news and weather report, high temperature for today is 96 degrees F. Started walking at 6:00 AM. Breakfast was served at 6:45 AM. Breakfast menu: oatmeal, cake, milk, sugar, apple and water ( Harina de Avena, torta, leche, ezucar, un manzana y agua).

The morning call out for food service worker at 5:00 AM. The first wave of workers were on their way to the Penitentiary by 5:30 AM. The second wave was at the Penitentiary by 7:00 AM. The morning started out dark, hazy, breezy and cool. Th lower atmosphere was hazy, there were plumes of dark smoke in the Western horizon. The beautiful dawn sky was on display with the contrasting dark blue sky and the analogous colors peeking over the Sierras and the moon was in mid sky. The rabbits were grazing on the soccer and baseball fields, while Labrona and family were grazing by the fence near the basketball court. As the morning progressed analogous colors radiated out of the suns path: red, orange, yellow, light green, light blue and blue sky. As the sun rise over the Sierras. it illuminated the sky and warmed the air. The squirrels appeared after breakfast and were scurrying around begging for food from the inmates. Completed walking 3 miles before breakfast. headed to the Front Office at 6:50 AM. We were told to come back at 7:35 AM because of medical movement of inmate. Went back to the front office at 7:40 AM. CO Leyva checked us into the Penitentiary. Went to the laundry room: washed laundry for sections 3A and 3B: dried blankets, sheets for section 5A; made 96 bed rolls for section 5A: folded blankets, sheets and uniform. Had lunch at the cafeteria. Luncheon menu: Chili, bread, rice, mixed vegetables, apple, cookie and water. Went to commissary: prepared hygiene commissary for sections 3A and 3B. Replenished uniforms, cleaning detergents for the laundry room. Left the Penitentiary at 2:00 PM. Back to the dormitory at 2:10 PM. Counselor Reyes informed me that 3 new inmates will join us today and assigned them to bunks # 66 U, 67U and 70U. Rodrigo Santos conducted the GED/ESL tutoring sessions. Talked to Doris at 2:30 PM: Doris is well and rested. She did not have an asthma attack. She replied to Eric’s questionnaires. She walked over 10,000 steps yesterday. She mad a sale on the Etsy account. She is feeling a lot better. Went to sewing room: prepared bus bags for new inmates, sewed two pillow cases for Jorge, Altered 38X28 pants for Martel, repaired uniforms and exchanged 2 32X30 pants for Eric Tippetts. Census count at 3:30 PM. Dinner was served after the count. Dinner menu: chili, rice, bread, mixed vegetables, apple and water. Signed up for two more ACE Classes. Checked email from Doris at 4:00 PM: Doris is well and rested. She walked 10,165 steps, 17.4 inches step length and symmetry was 62%. Yesterday was the 243rd consecutive days she closed the ring on her iPhone. She made an sale on Etsy. She replied to Eric’s questionnaires. She will be in the backyard to: enjoy the nice weather, walk with her cast, let the dogs out and enjoy the persimmons trees. The new inmates showed up at 7:00 PM and we processed them. ACE Class Commutation Awareness 6:00 – 6:30 PM. Census count at 6:30 PM. Census count at 7:30 PM. Cleaned up at 9:00 PM. Final Census count at 9:30 PM. Went to bed at 10:00 PM.
Today was a good day: Dori is well and rested. She did not have an asthma attack. She walked 10,165 steps, 17.4 inches step length and symmetry was 62%. Yesterday was the 243rd consecutive days she closed the ring on her iPhone. Her walking has improved tremendously. She had a sale on her Etsy account. Walked 3 miles and stretched. Attended ACE Class. Signed up for two more ACE Classes.
