The morning call out for food service workers at 5:00 AM. They were headed to the Penitentiary at 5:30 AM. The morning started out dark, hazy, breezy and cool. The lower atmosphere was hazy from the Coffee Pot fire from Sequoia National Park and the air quality was bad. The beautiful dawn sky was on display with analogous colors radiating out of the sun’s path: red, orange, yellow, light green, light blue and Blue sky. The rabbits were grazing on the soccer and baseball fields, while Labrona and family were grazing by the fence near the basketball court. As the sun rise over the Sierras, the reddish orange sphere illuminated the sky and warmed the air. The squirrels appeared after breakfast and were scurrying around begging for food from the inmates. I was able to walk three miles before I had to head to the Front Office for laundry and commissary duties. Arrived at the Front Office at 7:05 AM. CO T checked us into the Penitentiary and into the laundry room: we folded blankets and sheets, created bedrolls, folded and put away Khakis uniforms, sorted and put away: towels, boxers, socks and miscellaneous items. Went to commissary to help with inventory count and cleaned the commissary. Went back to Laundry to: wash three loads of blankets and sheets and a load of uniforms from R&D: packed cleaned uniforms for R & D. Went to Commissary to cook lunch. We had pork with spam and vegetables, beef ribs, BBQ Chicken and sausages. It was a very good lunch. Went back to Laundry to: wash more laundry from other sections, folded blanket and sheets, created bedrolls, prepared bus bags for 6 new inmates, washed uniforms and miscellaneous for R & D. Completed all Laundry: sorted out uniforms and other items and ready for delivery tomorrow. Left the Penitentiary at 2:00 PM. Went to warehouse to secure inventory for sewing room. CO Zaleski authorized the inventory, Jon packed the merchandise and Happy delivered the merchandise to the sewing room: repaired pants for Frank Duenas, repaired jackets, put away merchandise, exchanged #X and Large shirt for Jorge and put away merchandise. Talked to Mr Larsen and Counselor Reyes about visitation and they told me that visitation was restored this weekend. GED/ESL Tutoring 2:30 – 3:30 PM. We were trying to confirm a GED test date , probably on 23 or 24 of September. Good GED tutoring sessions. Census count at 3:30 PM. Dinner was served after the count.
