Finished walking at 7:40 AM. I enjoyed the tranquil morning walk. Cool and refreshing and the only noise is from some private planes taking off from Merced Airport. Stretched and practiced Yoga at the Basketball court in the morning sunshine. Good Yoga practice session, but had to curtail my workout to avoid injuring my ribs, as they are still sore. Felt very relaxed and energized after Yoga. Washed a load of laundry for Ivan. Census count at 10:00 AM. Lunch was served after the count. Luncheon menu: scrambled eggs, fries, biscuits with gravy, banana, and punch. Completed Laundry for Ivan at 11:00 AM. A couple of his pants were ripped at the bridges, I repaired them for him. Showered at 11:10 AM. Washed my own laundry at 11:20 AM. Called Doris at 11:40 AM: Doris is well and she is happy at home. Bobo is walking fine after Doris applied some ointment on her legs, almost back to normal. Quang remembered his way to Atwater without the aid of the GPS, he remembered the route when he dropped me off at Atwater. I told Doris to ask Chris to show her how to use the GPS. She will call Thomas Johnson and inquire about the restitution. She will send $300 to my commissary account. I will check with Counselor Reyes why the FRP has not deducted the funds ($58) from my account.
I noticed the scissors in the Laundry sewing room were missing. Checked with Jon, and he told me he placed it in the left drawer of the sewing machine. I verified that it indeed was there and not stolen. Finished my laundry at 1:30 PM. Watched the SF and Raiders preseason football game. Enjoyed some Doritos and Z cakes with our game. Chan saw my Daily Diary and some of my book reports and he liked them. I told him that my Daily Diary and book reports have evolved from when I started at the camp to what it is like today which includes: more structure, a plan of action, quotations, and a summary of daily accomplishments. Chan is one of the few inmates who memorialize his daily diary and journey through prison. He started writing when he was in county jail by writing a single sentence about his incarceration and has evolved to multiple pages daily journal. We discussed about helping other inmates to memorialize their journey through prison but unfortunately, most of them prefer to take life easy and waste their time, watching TV, wandering about doing nothing, chatting, getting into trouble, and other non-productive activities. I checked my email and found out that Doris has sent me $600 instead of $300 as requested. Well too late now as they will deduct more from my Financial Responsibility Plan, just hope is not bumped up to $400 from $58 because of the excess deposit by Doris. Census count at 3:30 PM. Dinner was served after the count. Dinner menu: Tacos, Beans, corn, and punch. AAPI group had a pizza party for Vincent. We had meat lovers, BBQ chicken and vegetarian pizzas, Corn Chips, and Pepsi. The pizza was very good and I overindulged. Vincent will be going to home confinement after serving 8 years of his 10-year term. best Wished to Vincent. He will be leaving us on Thursday 8/17/2023. Vincent AKA the Mayor has been instrumental in guiding the AAPI group during his tenure, now the responsibility falls on Jon. ACE classes – History of Music 4-4:30 PM, Physiology and Fitness 5-5:30 PM and Biology 6-6:30 PM. Read in the library in between classes from 4:30 – 7:00 PM. Finished reading ” The Complete Yoga Course”. Census count at 7:15 PM. Cleaned up at 8:00 PM. Census Count at 8:30 PM. Final Census count at 9:30 PM. Went to bed at 10:00 PM.
