The morning call out for Dublin orderlies at 5:00 AM. They were headed out at 5:30 AM. The morning started out dark, partly cloudy, breezy and cold – 47 degrees F. The lower atmosphere was hazy, clouds in the Southeast and Western horizons, the 1/2 moon was in mid sky at 11 o’clock and the breeze made the temperature colder. Early breakfast, no wildlife appeared, so the inmates left their food on the ground and on the basketball court. The beautiful dawn sky was on display; band of orange yellowish haze; analogous colors peeking over the Sierras: reddish orange, yellow, light green, dark blue and gray clouds, light blue and blue sky; dark blue and gray clouds near the sun but peach, mauve and pink clouds further away from the sun; the 1/2 moon was in mid sky at 11 o’clock. I walked on the soccer field trail. As the sky brightened it was a beautiful display of clouds, dark blue and gray clouds near the path of the sun, with a patch of brown and white clouds over it and distance clouds were peach, pink , mauve and white colors. As the sun rise over the Sierras, it illuminated the Sierras, clouds in the path of the sun were peach with golden edges, the sun moved in and out of the clouds. Completed walking 3 miles and jogged the final 3 miles at 7:40 AM, in 1 hour 14 minutes and 30 seconds. Average walking times were: 12 minutes and 25 seconds per mile or 2 minutes and 5 seconds per lap. Stretched, split stretched and practiced yoga at the basketball court until 8:40 AM. The stretch and Yoga practice felt good after the cold morning walk. I was able to exercise all phases: strength, flexibility, balance and breathing. Finished my Yoga practice with the corpse and visualized the beautiful dawn sky, colorful sunrise, the 1/2 moon in mid sky and the tranquility. Opened my eyes to the cloudy sky. There were no inmates on the trail as it was cold and windy. Education Supervisor wanted a list of 10 students for the next GED examination.
