Journal Entry: Choon Yong-02/22/2025-Visitation

Journal Entry

2/22/2025 Saturday daily diary from Atwater Camp.
Woke up at 5:00 AM. Made up my bed, cleaned up, changed to BOP uniform and made a cup of coffee. Stretched, drank my coffee and watched the local news and weather report, high temperature for today is 71 degrees F. Started walking at 6:00 AM. Breakfast was served at 6:30 AM. Breakfast menu: oatmeal, cake, milk, sugar, banana and water (Harina de avena, torta, leche, azucar, un platano y agua).

Plan for today (plano para hoy):

  1. Stretch.
  2. Call Doris.
  3. Check email from Doris.
  4. Email daily diary for 2/21/2025.
  5. Walk 6 Miles.
  6. Split Stretch.
  7. Yoga.
  8. Quotations.

The morning started out dark, hazy, sparse clouds and cool 47 degrees F. The lower atmosphere was hazy, sparse clouds in the Southern horizon, crescent moon was in mid sky at 10 o’clock and slight breeze. The autonomous car company had their facility and flood lights turned on but they were not testing their vehicles. Rabbits were grazing on the soccer and baseball fields, while Labrona and family were grazing by the fence near the soccer field. The beautiful dawn sky was on display: band of red haze; analogous colors peeking over the Sierras: red, orange, yellow, light green, light blue and blue sky; the crescent moon was in mid sky at 10 o’clock and colorful clouds near the suns path. Breakfast was served early and no wildlife appeared so the inmates left their food on the ground and on the basketball court. I walked on the trails on the soccer and baseball fields. The birds appeared around 7:00 AM and feasted on the food left by the inmates and foraged in the fields. As the sun rise over the Sierras, the big red sphere illuminated the Sierras giving it depth and it changed colors: red, orange, yellow and bright yellow as it ascended through the haze. Completed walking 6 miles at 7:40 AM, in 1 hour 14 minutes and 18 seconds. Average walking times were: 12 minutes and 23 seconds per mile or 2 minutes and 4 seconds per lap. Talked to Doris at 7:50 AM: Doris is well and rested. She was waiting for Christina to drive her to Atwater. Their ETA is 10:30-11:00 AM. She was worried as she did not receive my email last night. I told her the email room was lock downed because the CO caught an inmate using his cell phone in the computer room. Stretched, split stretched and practiced Yoga at the basketball court until 9:00 AM. The stretch and Yoga practice felt good after the cold morning walk. I was able to exercise all phases: strength, flexibility, balance and breathing. Finished my Yoga practice with the corpse pose and visualized the beautiful dawn sky and the colorful sun rise. Opened my eyes to the bright sunshine with the crescent moon still in mid sky at 10 o’clock. Showered and changed to BOP uniform at 9:15 AM. Lunch was served at 9:30 AM. Luncheon menu: fried eggs, pancake with syrup, fries, apple and water. Census count at 10:00 AM. Had a short nap. Doris arrived at the visitation center at 10:45 AM. Doris is well and rested. We had Dr Pepper, potatoes chips, Hershey chocolate bars and water for snacks. She was glad I could call her today because BOP revalidated my phone minutes – 300 minutes. But the computer room was lock downed because an inmate was caught using his cell phone in the computer room. Hopefully they will reopen it on Monday. Joseph and Michael Santos knew I was headed to the halfway house in April and they wanted me to call them. Doris is working on my Book, EBRR Class and ACE Class Reports. I told her I will need two copies, one for the halfway house case manager and the other for me. She will bring them with her when she pick me up on 4/22/2025. I told her she should park in the visitors parking on the last row and I will look for them when they finished processing me. She is slowly packing the clothes for me to bring to the halfway house. I told her the halfway house in Oakland is located at: 205 Macarthur Boulevard, Oakland 94610. She told me her walking data for yesterday was: 9460 steps, 16.5 inches step length an symmetry was 8.5%. Yesterday was the 384th consecutive days she closed the ring on her iPhone. She had a very good result from her eye doctor, and her swelling has gone down. They increased the duration for her shots to 10 weeks. Geok and family are back in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She is starting to see who her real friends are after the last two years. Her customer called her and would like to buy some Easter stuff from her. Doris left the visitation room at 2:30 PM. We had a very good visitation. Census count at 3:30 PM. Dinner was served after the count. Lee gave me some noodles for dinner, I will save it for later. Dinner menu: meat loaf with gravy, corn, mashed potatoes, bread and water. Census count at 7:00 PM. I had my noodles. Census count at 8:00 PM. Cleaned up at 9:00 PM. Final Census count at 9:30 PM. Went to bed at 10:00 PM.
