2/3/2024 Saturday daily diary from Atwater Camp.
Woke up at 5:30 AM. Made up my bed, cleaned up, changed to BOP uniform and made a cup of coffee. Stretched, drank my coffee and watched the local news and weather report, high temperature for today is 54 degrees F. Started walking at 6:20 AM. Breakfast was served at 6:30 AM. Breakfast menu: Oatmeal, roll, an apple and water.

Plan for today:

  1. Stretch.
  2. Call Doris.
  3. Check email from Doris.
  4. Email daily diary for 2/2/2024.
  5. Walk 6 miles.
  6. Split Stretch.
  7. Quotations.
  8. ACE Classes Stress and Your Body 5-6 PM (Hosting) and US History 19th Century 6-6:30 PM. Spanish Lessons 7:30 – 9:00 AM and 2:30 – 3:30 PM.


The morning started out dark, overcast and warm, in the 50’s. The Eastern horizon was over cast with Cumulonimbus clouds except for a slither of sky that was clear. The Western horizon had some Stratus cumulus clouds and small patches of clear sky, it was tinted with light mauve color. The Eastern sky was a display of changing colors which started with the sun illuminating the underside of the cloud, which started about as brown then gradually turn to reddish tint, to orange and to peach colors. before the sun emerged, the sun ray radiate and illuminated clouds in its path with orange tint. As the sun rise, the clear area in the Western horizon turned to orange gold like a river of gold. As the big reddish orange sphere emerged the sun ray illuminated the underside of the clouds giving it a contrasting color of Dark gray with an orange tint. beautiful display of colors in the morning sky. the sun rise was abruptly shielded by the thick clouds. Attended the Spanish class from 7:30 – 9:00 AM. The Spanish class was good as it gives me the opportunity to read, write and speak Spanish. Continued walking after the class. Lunch was served at 9:30 AM. Luncheon menu: Scrambled eggs, toast with syrup, banana and water. Completed walking 6 miles at 9:45 AM in 1 hour 15 minutes and 40 seconds. Average walking times were: 12 minutes and 12 seconds per mile (milla) or 49 seconds per lap (vuelta). Checked email from Doris at 9:50 AM: Doris walked 6823 steps, 14.3 Inches step length and her symmetry was down to 72%. I encouraged her to keep up with her walking. The weather in the Bay Area was drizzly, rain, windy and cold. Doris will work and walk indoors. She missed not visiting me this weekend. I told her she will make it up next weekend with the visitation. Went to the library to read up on clouds and quotations. Talked to Doris at 10:50 AM: Doris is well. I congratulated her for walking 6823 steps. She told me she tries to close the “app ring” on her iPhone every day which requires at least 6000 steps. I told her she should try to close the ring daily. Th weather was nice in the Bay Area and she will do some walking outside. She asked if I had any sewing today, I told her I try to avoid any sewing on the weekend. I told her I have already walked 6 miles and attended the Spanish Class form 7:30 – 9:00 AM. I will have ACE Class tonight. She missed the visit this weekend, I told her to make it up next week. the dogs were out running around.

Had my haircut at11:30 AM. Showered at 12:00 PM and changed to BOP uniform. Went to library to do some reading. Attended Spanish lessons 2:30 – 3:30 PM. Census count at 3:40 PM. Dinner was served after the count. Dinner menu: Meat loaf, corn, bread and water. ACE Classes – Stress and Your Body 5-6 PM (Hosting) and US History 19th Century 6-6:30 PM. Checked Doris email she walked 6700 steps and 14.3 inches step length and symmetry was 82%. I also told her that Karlee and Chris will visit on 2/17/2024. Census count at 7:00 PM Census count at 8:00 PM. Cleaned up at 9:00 PM. Final Census count at 9:30 PM. Went to bed at 10:00 PM.

Today was a good day: Doris is well and she walked 6700 steps , 14.3 inches step length and symmetry was 82%. The Dogs are well. Walked 6 Miles and stretched. Hosted and attended ACE Classes. Karlee will visit on 2/17/2024. Doris will visit on 2/10/2024.
