Power outage in the mass hall and library last night, so the camp was locked down until power is restored. Power was restored at 7:10 AM. Worked on my Spanish lessons while we were locked down. The dawn sky looked reddish over the Sierras and black clouds in the mid sky. The fog rolled in and turned everything gray. Washed my sheets and blankets at 7:15 AM. The sky was over cast and the sun was shielded by the cloud and fog. Tried calling Doris but could not connect. Finished walking 6 miles at 9:25 AM. Finished washing my sheets and blankets at 9:30 AM. Lunch was served at 9:30 AM. Luncheon menu: sloppy Joe, carrots, fries, an apple and water. completed 6 miles walk at 9:25 AM in 1 hour 15 minutes and 12 seconds. Average walking times: 12 Minutes and 7 seconds per mile (milla) or 49 seconds per lap (vuelta). Showered at 9:50 AM and changed to BOP uniform. Census count at 10:00 AM. tried calling Doris but could not connect. Doris, Quang and Annie arrived at the visitation room at 11:20 AM: They came via highway 4 and it took them 2 hours to get to Atwater. Doris, Quang and Annie are well. Quang had a dentist procedure yesterday, I am glad he recovered well and was able to visit me today. Doris’s walking has improved. She was walking without the cane, she only uses the ankle guard to support her ankle. She walked about 6200 Steps, 14.7 inches step length and symmetry of 72% yesterday. I told her that was very good and encourage her to keep up. She said the monitors for the cameras around the house was blacked out. I told her to unplug the power supply for the monitor and plug it back in again. Power surges sometimes create black out. I told her that Armando was sent to the SHU for contraband a couple of days ago. She said that they never learn from their mistakes. I told them I am not sure how long he will be in the SHU. I told them we had another inmate who was sent to the SHU for contraband today. I told them the SHU is not a nice place, you are locked up for 23 hours and maybe an hour of exercise and inmate gets restless after locked up for a long time. it is not worth risking an end up in the SHU. When I go to the penitentiary for medical, I would hear inmates yelling and screaming, not a pleasant place to be. Doris was thinking about converting her bathroom into a walking shower with grab bars. Quang estimated it would cost about $10K for the conversion. I told Doris to do the conversion, but she decided against it. She will wait for me to do it when I get home. Quang knows his way to Atwater as this is his fourth time visiting me. Quang and Annie were interested in the Asia cruise form Hong Kong to Singapore via Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia and a land tour through Singapore and Malaysia. Doris was also interested in the trip too. But I told them, it will be about 3 years before I could take the trip as I needed permission form my probation officer and BOP. It was a very good visit and they left the visitation at 2:30 PM. Doris planned to visit me on 2/10/2024 and Norma will bring her. Quang and Annie will be busy with their Chinese New Year parties.

Back to the unit at 3:00 PM. Census count at 3:30 PM. Dinner was served after the count. Dinner menu: Roast beef, green beans, mashed potatoes, bread and water. ACE Classes – Stress And Your Body 5-6 PM (Hosting) and US History 19th Century 6-6:30 PM. Census count at 7:30 PM. Census count at 8:30 PM. Cleaned up at 9:00 PM. Final Census count at 9:30 PM. Went to bed at 10:00 PM.
