1/17/2024 Wednesday daily diary from Atwater Camp.
Woke up at 5:30 AM. made up my bed, cleaned up, changed to BOP uniform, and made a cup of coffee. Stretched, drank my coffee and watched the local news and weather report, high temperature for today is 59 degrees F. Breakfast was served at 6:30 AM. Breakfast menu: cereal, muffin, an apple and water.

- ACE Classes Religious Freedom 6-7 PM (Hosting).

Talked to Doris last night at 7:30 PM: Doris is well and Dr Jing came by the house with food for Doris. She checked Doris’s ankle and said it was a sprain. She should be Okay in a few days. She brought some herbs for Doris to soak her ankle. It is supposed to help it heal. Doris, cooked some dinner for herself. I told her the email system was still down, not sure when it will come back online. kein will drive Doris here, date is still tentative either Saturday or Sunday. Doris will confirm the date with me later. It rained heavily and power went out in the dormitory. In the morning the Television, hot water were not working. Email was still down. They resetted the breakers at 6:20 AM and the lights, television and hot water heater were operational. We were locked down in the dormitory after breakfast. They finally reopened the gate at 8:30 AM. Walked until 9:15 AM. Walked three miles in 41 minutes and 12 seconds. Average walk times were: 13 minutes and 18 seconds per mile (milla) or 54 seconds per lap (vuelta). Went to sewing room to size uniforms, repaired uniforms and took inventory. Exchanged pants for John, Exchanged jacket for new inmates that came in last night. Helped the commissary crew load and unload some merchandise. Lunch was served at 10:10 AM. Luncheon menu: hamburger, fries, banana and water. Exchanged laundry bag for Parham. Tried calling Doris but could not connect. Took my shower at 10:30 Am and changed to BOP uniform. talked to Doris at 11:00 AM: Doris is well and the swelling on her ankle has came down. She was able to let the dogs out of their cage. the dogs are well and running around. I told her we had a power outage last night from 10:00 PM – 4:00 AM. And all the power were not reset until about 6:30 AM. However the email system is still down and only three of the five phones are working. I told Doris to keep icing, rolling, apply analgesic ointment and wrap it with her ankle guard to keep the swelling down. Also soak her ankle in the herbs form Dr Jing helps. She will keep doing it. I told her we had 7 new inmates last night, we are up to 120 inmates. She said we are getting crowded. i told her we will have another 4-5 more inmates this Friday. She said that she sent some emails to me about her visitation but I could not access my email. She will have to communicate with me via the telephone until the email is restored. I told her I have GED / ESL tutoring and ACE Classes tonight – Religious Freedom 6-7 PM (Hosting). She will work on her inventory in her sewing room. GED / ESL tutoring from 12:00 – 2:30 PM. Worked on my Spanish lessons until 3:30 PM. Census count at 3:30 PM. Dinner was served after the count. Dinner menu: Pizza, spaghetti with marinara sauce, salad and water. We had a new inmate form The SHU that was let out to the camp. I had to process him at 4:30 PM. ACE Class Religious Freedom 6-7 PM (Hosting). Census count at 7:00 PM. Census count at 8:00 PM. Cleaned up at 9:00 PM. Final Census count at 9:30 PM. Went to bed at 10:00 PM.
Today was a good day: Doris is well and she is recovering nicely form her swollen ankle. She was able to move around the house and take care of the dogs. Managed to walk three miles despite the lockdown. GED / ESL tutoring classes. Hosted ACE Class – religious Freedom – Buddha.
