1/12/2024 Friday daily diary from Atwater Camp.
Woke up at 5:30 AM. Made up my bed, cleaned up, changed to BOP uniform and made a cup of coffee. Stretched, drank my coffee and watched the local news and weather report, high temperature for today is 50 degrees F. started walking at 6:30 AM. Breakfast was served at 6:10 AM. Breakfast menu: Oatmeal, muffin, an apple and water.

- ACE Classes – Geography Benelux countries 5-5:30 PM and Public speaking 6-6:30 PM.
- GED / ESL Tutoring 12:00 – 2:30 PM.
The morning started out dark, cold in the 30’s but calm. The rabbits were out grazing on the field. The sky dark blue to black with no sign of the moon. I was adequately bundled up for the cold weather: jacket, Beane, gloves and scarf. As the dawn sky appeared, low clouds over the Sierras were illuminated in a dark reddish orange color, the sky ranged from light blue to navy blue to black. The clouds were moving and the pattern in the dawn sky was changing. Before the sun emerged the low clouds turned to fiery red color, the higher clouds were illuminated at the bottom with a tint of orange while the sky turn to light blue. As the sun rise, the dawn sky changed and the underside of the clouds were illuminated with a peach fuzz color. The big reddish orange sphere peeked over the Sierras and eventually was shielded by the low clouds. the dawn sky changed its pattern and colors for about an hour, displaying different shades and pattern, what a show to start the morning. Finished walking 6 miles at 8:10 AM, in 1 hour 15 minutes and 41 seconds. Average walking times were: 12 minutes and 12 seconds per mile (milla) or 49 seconds per lap (vuelta). Walking times were pretty fast for a cold morning. Stretched and split stretched at the basketball court in the morning sunshine.. The stretch felt good. Finished stretching at 8:40 AM. Cleaned the computer room. Checked and replied to Doris email: Doris is well. She forgot MLK was a Federal holiday. She scheduled visitation for 1/20/2024, Norma will drive her for the visitation. It was cold in the Bay Area,and she will stay indoors to work on her inventory and walk indoors. She walked about 4500 steps, 14.7 inches step length and her symmetry was down to 62 %. I encouraged her to keep walking to strengthen her legs. She asked why I had not practice Yoga for a while, I told her it was too cold to practice Yoga in the morning, split stretch was taking up some time and change in weekend lunch time to 9:30 AM, cut into my Yoga practice. I told her I will resume when the weather gets warmer. Had some donuts, nutty bar and an apple for snacks. Showered at 9:20 AM and changed to BOP uniform. Counselor Reyes informed me that three new inmates will be joining us today. Lunch was served at 10:10 AM. Luncheon menu: fish sandwich, beans bread, macaroni with cheese and water. Talked to Doris at 10:30 AM: Doris is well and the dogs are well too. She is planning to visit me either on Saturday or Monday. She will confirm it with Norma and me later. She is walking everyday and her symmetry is improving. Patches called to inquired about my bonus. I told her we will have 3 new inmates joining us today. i will have the GED / ESL tutoring and ACE Classes tonight. I have some special sewing projects today. Went to the sewing room to repair some uniforms, sew straps and exchanged clothing. Exchanged laundry bag for Lonely. Exchanged 2-3x, 2-4X and 1 52X32 pants for Henson. GED / ESL tutoring from 12:00 – 2:30 PM. Worked on pants for Henson in sewing room. Census count at 3:30 PM. Dinner was served after the count. Dinner menu: shredded chicken, bread, green bean, pasta and water. The three inmates decided to turn themselves in to the Marshall instead of self surrender. They will probably be here in a couple of weeks. Went to sewing room to hem three pairs of pants for Henson. Altered a shirt for Trino. Exchanged a pair of pants for Lopes 40 X 30. Ace Classes – Benelux countries 5-5:30 PM and Public Speaking 6-6:30 PM. had my hair cut at 5:30 PM. Showered at 5:45 PM. Talked to Doris at 6:30 PM: She will visit me tomorrow at 11:00 AM. I will call her for the ETA. Census count at 7:00 PM. census count at 8:00 PM. Cleaned up at 9:00 PM. Final Census count at 9:30 PM. Went to bed at 10:00 PM.
Today was a good day:
Doris and the dogs are well. Doris will visit me tomorrow. She is walking daily. Walked 6 miles and split stretched. Attended ACE Classes. Good GED / ESL tutoring classes. Completed my special sewing projects.
