Morning shakedown at 6:00 AM. Started walking at 6:30 AM. The morning walk started out dark, cold in the 40’s and very dense fog. We were out in the mass hall, shopping at the commissary or out in the open during the shakedown. I decided to do my walking. No moon, or dawn sky as everything was shielded by the thick fog. The rabbits were chased away by the COs looking for contraband in the field. The shakedown was completed by 7:30 AM. Finished walking at 8:20 AM. Stretched in the training room at the dormitory. Finished stretching at 8:50 AM. Walking time for 6 miles was 1 hour 18 minutes and 50 seconds. Average walking times were: 13 minutes and 9 seconds per mile (milla) or 53 seconds per lap (vuelta). Cleaned the computer room. Secretary Mrs. Chavez informed me, we will have a self surrender today and 5 new inmates joining us tomorrow, and on the 1/12/24 we will have 3-5 inmates and on 1/19/24 we will have another 5 new inmates. Checked and replied to Doris email: she had a good night rest and back to her normal routine, now that Patches is gone. The sun finally broke through for a brief moment and was shield again by the fog. Today was commissary day but I did not need anything from the store. Had some nutty bar and chips for snacks. Showered at 9:30 AM and changed to BOP uniform. Lunch was served at 10:10 AM. Luncheon menu: Baked chicken, mixed vegetables, bread, sweet potatoes and water. Talked to Doris at 10:30 AM: Doris is well and asked me about the morning shakedown. I told her everything is back to normal. I told her I have ACE Classes and GED/ESL tutoring and we will have a new inmate joining us today and five more tomorrow. Doris is handling the household well and she had a good rest last night. Went to the sewing room to clean up the mess left by the COs after they searched the place. Did some sewing. GED/ESL tutoring 12:00 – 2:30 PM. Tutoring went well, we are trying to test the students to determine their readiness, strength and weakness. We would like to test them next week if possible. The self surrender did not show up , but I had to process Armando (Barber) who returned from the SHU. I had a Spanish lesson from Rodrigo Santos until 3:30 PM. Census count at 3:35 PM. Dinner was served after the count. Dinner menu: hot dog bun, shredded meat, mixed vegetables, potato chips and water. Washed my laundry at 4:00 PM. ACE Classes – Introduction to Infectious Disease 5-6 PM (Hosting) and Effective Writing 6-6:30 PM. Finished my laundry at 6:45 PM. Census count at 7:00 PM. census count at 8:00 PM. Cleaned up at 9:00 PM. Final Census count at 9:30 PM. Went to bed at 10:00 PM.
