1/3/2024 Wednesday daily diary from Atwater Camp.
Woke up at 5:40 AM. Made up my bed, cleaned up, changed to BOP uniform and made a cup of coffee. Stretched, drank my coffee and watched the local news and weather report, high temperature for today is 54 degrees F. Started walking at 6:30 AM. Breakfast was served at 6:15 AM. Breakfast menu: Oatmeal, muffin, banana and water.

The morning walk started dark and cold with slight wind gust. the dawn sky emerged with blue sky and dark greyish almost black clouds, complementary colors. The partially eclipsed moon was in mid sky. The rabbits were out grazing in the field. As the sun rise, it illuminated the underside of the clouds with tint of red and orange and the sky turn yellowish. As the sun emerged over the low clouds, a reddish orange sphere was on display, what a beautiful morning. The air was refreshing after the rain last night. Finished walking 6 miles in 1 hour 15 minutes and 19 seconds at 8:00 AM. Walking times were: 12 minutes and 9 seconds per mile (Milla) or 49 seconds per lap (vuelta). pretty good times as I worked up a sweat. Stretched and split stretched at the basketball court in partial sunlight. The stretch felt good after the morning walk. Finished stretching at 8:30 AM. Cleaned the computer room. Had a nutty bar and a banana for snacks. Checked and replied to Doris email: They had a send off dinner for Patches. She is leaving for Australia today. Norma will pick her up and send her to the airport at 2:30 PM. I will call her before class to bid her a safe trip home. Took a shower at 9:30 AM and changed to BOP uniform. Called Doris at 9:50 AM: Doris and Patches are well. Patches is all packed and she weighted her luggage with Chris’s help and her luggage is within the weight limit. Doris asked for the combination for the safe and i told her the combination and the key is in my bag. She will take care of the dogs. I told Patches I received Geok’s card and she assured me that the family is behind me and wished for a quick release. Lunch was served at 10:30 AM. Luncheon Menu: hamburger, fries, and apple and water. Received X’Mas and New year card from Geok. Went to laundry room to prepare bus bags for the new inmates. Talked to Doris and Patches at 11:40 AM: I called to wish Patches a safe trip home and told her she was always welcomed at our house anytime she wanted to come stay with us. I told her I received Geok’s card and she told me the family supports me and awaits good news that I will be released soon. I told her I had GED/ ESL tutoring and 5 new inmates are joining us today. I wished her a safe trip home. GED/ESL tutoring from 12:00 – 2:30 PM. the tutoring classes went well. The five new inmates arrived at the camp at 3:00 PM. The CO decided to assign their bunks and distribute clothes to them after the count and dinner. census count at 3:30 PM. Dinner was served after the count. Dinner menu: Taco salad, soup, beans, salad and water. We processed the five new inmates after dinner. ACE Class Religious Freedom 6-7 PM (Hosting). Census count at 7:30 PM. Census count at 8:30 PM. Cleaned up at 9:00 PM. Final Census count at 9:30 PM. Went to bed at 10:00 PM.
Today was a good day: Doris and Patches are well. Patches left for Australia at 2:30 PM, safe journey home. Walked 6 miles and split stretched. GED/ESL classes went well. Hosted ACE Class.
