The morning notification that we will have a fog count at 8:00 AM. The morning started out dark, foggy, cloudy, breezy and cold -39 degrees F. The lower atmosphere was very foggy with visibility down to 1/4 mile, cloudy and the breeze made the temperature felt colder. I could barely see the flood lights from the autonomous car company. Rabbits were grazing on the soccer and baseball fields, while Labrona and family were grazing by the fence near the basketball court. Breakfast was served early and no wildlife appeared for breakfast so the inmates left their food on the ground and basketball court. As the sky brightened, the fog thickened reducing the visibility to a couple of hundred feet. As the sun rise , all I could see was an outline of the sun through the thick fog but the fog and clouds started to dissipate. The birds appeared around 7:20 AM and they feasted on food left by the inmates on the ground and the basketball court. Completed walking 6 miles at 7:40 AM, in 1 hour 14 minutes and 12 seconds. Average walking times were: 12 minutes and 22 seconds per mile or 2 minutes and 4 seconds per lap. Census count at 8:00 AM, after the warehouse workers returned to the dormitory. Stretched, split stretched and practiced Yoga until 8:50 AM. The stretch and Yoga practice felt good after the cold morning walk. I was able to exercise all phases: strength, flexibility, balance and breathing. Finished my Yoga practice with the corpse pose and visualized the beautiful dawn sky, colorful clouds and spectacular sun rise from Tuesday. Opened my eyes to the foggy and cloudy sky. The phone and email system was not functioning today from 5-12:00 PM. Due to system wide upgrade for phone system. I was not able to call Doris at 9:00 AM. I was able to access the email from Doris at 9:10 AM: Doris is well and rested. She walked 8756 steps, 16.5 inches step length and symmetry was 7.4%. Yesterday was the 333rd consecutive days she closed the ring on her iPhone. The weather was cold in Pinole. The GSW will be playing the Philadelphia seventy sixers tonight. Showered and changed to BOP uniform at 9:30 AM. Counselor Reyes informed me, that we will have one self surrender inmates tomorrow 1/3/2025, Monday 1/6/2025 one self surrender inmate and eight more inmates from the bus and one self surrender inmate on 1/9/2025. Lunch was served at 10:20 AM. Luncheon menu: baked chicken, chocolate cake, bread, mashed potatoes with gravy, carrots, apple and water. Brought some cleaned clothes to the sewing room. Commissary staff were stocking the commissary in anticipation of the commissary for Unicor staff today at 2:00 PM and the rest of the inmates tomorrow at 6:00 AM. Had a short nap. I checked the email and it was working but the phone system is not functioning. Confirmed with Education Supervisor that the ServSafe Class examination schedule was changed to 1/7/2025 at 8:00 AM. He will have a call out for all inmates taking the examination. I told him several inmates were also interested in taking the examination, so he will try to schedule another examination in early February. GED Tutoring 12:00 – 3:00 PM. Good Tutoring sessions. The phone system is messed up and we cannot call out or even try to add money to our account. Counselor Reyes said that case manager Mr Larsen will have to take care of the issue on Monday. Unless we can get someone outside to call the number for ICS and add money to our account. Otherwise we might have to wait until Monday or later. Commissary for Unicor staff 2:00 – 3:30 PM. Census count at 3:30 PM. Dinner was served after the count. Dinner menu: chef salad, turkey, beet, bread, mashed potatoes with gravy and water. ACE Class repairing and Building Credit 5-5:30 PM.
