Why I choose to read this book:
To improve my Spanish comprehension skills, build up my vocabulary and entertain myself with the Classic Science Fiction stories.

What I learned from this book:
This Spanish Bilingual Bridge consist of three classis science fiction stories. Th stories are written in Spanish with English translation beside it. It is a unique way to practice reading Spanish with the side-by-side bilingual writing, you’ll never need to leave the book to look up a word, interrupting the story. This book consist of three classical science fiction stories:
– Frankenstein
– Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea
– War of the Worlds
This book was written with a variety of tenses so you can practice past, present and future tenses.

Frankenstein: (Mary Shelley)
The story is about Victor Frankenstein who created a creature out of dead body parts and he brought it to life with a lightning machine. The creature he created was big and ugly, then he neglected it. The creature did not know why everyone was afraid of it, did not understand the world, sad and lonely. The creature finally found a poor family and tried to learn about the family, their language and tried to befriend them. When the family met the creature, they yelled, screamed and ran away, making the creature devastated, ,it only wanted to be friends. It went back to Victor to ask for a companion so it won’t be so lonely. Victor agreed to help create another creature but changed his mind and decided to stop the project and destroyed the new creature. When the creature saw this, it was furious and promised to take revenge, to make Victor feel his loneliness. The creature killed Victor’s brother, Victor’s love and his best friend. Victor vowed revenge for his loss and confronted the creature in a cold dark cave. When they met, they stood and looked at each other. They tried to understand each other but did not know how. They both were very tired and sad. As Victor started to feel sick in the cave and became weaker knew he was dying. He told the creature that he made a big mistake and should have been a better creator, should have helped the creature but he did not and he was sorry. He tried to make things right but it was too late and he died. The creature decided to start a new life and finally settled on an island where he lived for many years but he did not forget Victor and wished it could have changed things. The creature was alone but was happy.

Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea: (Jules Verne)
A big sea monster was making trouble for ships in the ocean and the US Government planned a special trip to find this monster. They chose Professor Pierre Aronnax to lead the expedition, he chosed two men to help him for the expedition. They set on the expedition to look for the monster. The monster found them and rammed their ship and the monster emerged from the sea and it was a submarine. The submarine took Aronnax and his men into the submarine. Th leader of the submarine was Captain Nemo, who built the submarine which he named Nautilus. Captain Nemo welcomed the men to stay but they cannot leave the submarine. The men explored the submarine and the depths of the oceans with all the fishes, plants and creatures of the depth. They did not understand why Nemo wanted to live under the sea. Captain Nemo told them about his story when he lived on land with his family, house and friends. And one day everything was taken away from him. That is why he choose to live under the sea and take revenge against his enemies. One day a ship belonging to the country that took everything away from him was nearby. Captain Nemo decided to attack it to exact revenge, it sank the warship and all its occupants. The men did not like Captain Nemo’s idea and decided to leave the ship. They waited for the right time and left the submarine and swam to a nearby island. Captain Nemo saw them leave but did not stop them. The men were rescued by a fishing boat. They got back home to Paris and reported their adventure to the authorities. But they did not tell anyone about their adventure on the Nautilus.

The War Of The World: (H.G. Wells)
Mars was a bright dot in the sky and was acting strange with puff of smoke coming out of it. Then one day a huge metal cylinder crashed with a loud noise and created a big hole in the ground. The Martians emerged from the cylinder and started to attack with their powerful laser. Humans survived by hiding in basements and other hideouts. More cylinders and Martians arrived. The armies tried to fight them but the Martians had huge three legged machine called Tripods, which shoots heat rays and a deadly black smoke. The Martians damaged the cities and spread a red weed that covered everything. The Martians were using their machines and sucking blood out of humans. He was trying to find his wife and decided to go to London to look for her. The city was destroyed and streets were deserted. Something was changing as the Martians were getting sick. As days passed sight of sick Martians were common. They said Bacteria were attacking the Martians and they have no protection against them. As the Martians perished more and more people emerged and he finally found his wife among the crowds. The guns and bombs could not destroy the Martians but a small thing called Bacteria was able to kill the Martians.

How will this book contribute to my success upon release:
This book will help my Spanish comprehension thus improve my Spanish teaching skills in GED/ESL tutoring, when I volunteer my teaching services to the Spanish immigrant and geriatric communities.
