Finish: 7/17/2024
Title: Beginning Spanish
Instructor: Rodrigo Santos

Why I choose to take this class:
Learning a new language challenges my mind, I have always wanted to learn Spanish but did not have the time or opportunity. Being incarcerated with majority so Spanish speaking inmates afforded me the opportunity to practice my Spanish skills.

What I learned from this class:
Learned how to pronounce words in Spanish. Build up my vocabulary of words that we use frequently. The different types of verbs in Spanish : ar, er and ir verbs. Verbs for present, past and future tenses. Vocabulary of : numbers, dates, seasons, months, body parts, countries, food, house, nature, weather, transportation and sports. My expanded Spanish vocabulary has allowed me to start reading Spanish books and converse in Spanish. In conjunction with this class I am also reading other Spanish books and taking other Spanish classes to improve my Spanish comprehension and conversational skills.

How will this class contribute to my success upon release:
My improved proficiency in Spanish has allowed me to apply my Spanish to tutoring students in GED and converse with other inmates. It had expanded my Teaching skills to include Spanish speaking students. I hope to continue to improve my Spanish skills and to apply them to my volunteer services when released.
