Biography Entry: Ron Molo

Hello,
My name is Ron Molo, I will report to the BOP at Thompson Prison Camp on September 12, 2023. I had been sentenced to 24 months. Over 3 years ago I made a very poor decision that changed my life and my family’s life forever. I was a stockbroker/financial advisor for a large brokerage firm. I was let go in June of 2021. I really didn’t believe what was going on and thought that things would go away. I immediately applied at other firms and had several offers on the table. I didn’t know that an investigation was going on or what was happening behind the scene. When it all broke loose things got crazy and this is where I ended up. Yes I do take responsibility and accept that my actions were wrong. I went to therapy and we could never pinpoint the reason why I made this decision. I accepted a plea deal in December of 2022 and was sentenced May of 2023.
This is when I saw an interview that Justin Paperny did with Jeff Piecka right before he surrendered. I started looking into White Collar Advice/ Earning Freedom. I reviewed the website on a regular basis and finally set up a free consultation. I then asked my wife to sit in and we were sold. I soon realized that I needed a little more time to prepare and was able to get a delay to report for my sentence. This community has been great and quite informative. I wish I would have know about them from the beginning.

A little info on my background.

Life and school:
I grew up on the far south side of Chicago and moved to the Southern suburbs when I was in 7th grade. I graduated from Lewis University with a bachelor’s degree in economics and finance in 1982. Soon after I met my wife and we were married in 1985. We have 3 children, all successful adults and living on their own. We have lived in the Joliet area since we were married.

Work Life:
My family never has a lot of extra resources so I had to earn money on my own. When I was 6 years old I sold leaves that had fallen from the trees in my neighborhood. 1 penny a piece made 6 cents that day. I built my own bike from scrap parts and collected pop bottles for the deposit. I had neighbors save newspapers so we could bring them to recycling centers. I had paper routes and worked on cars to make a few extra dollars. I took a job at a local grocery store in high school and college. That led to a management program position with a large national drug store. I then took a sales position with a small custom cabinet shop and at one time was responsible for 60% to 70% of their business. In the late 90’s I knew I needed a change and went into the financial industry. I passed all the licensing tests and soon started my business. I went through the early 2000’s and the financial crisis in the late 2000’s and continued to prosper. I really enjoyed what I was doing and the relationships I had with my clients. Something went haywire right before Covid hit and that is why I am here.

Community:
I have always given back to my community even at an early age. I was an altar server second grade, started a few clubs in grade school and did many community service projects in high school and college. My wife and I became involved in our church working and managing parish picnics, dinner dances, trivia nights and servin on many boards with our church. I managed the construction project of our new church and was then asked to become a member of the church finance committee. I was asked to speak at several diosocoine meetings on parrish finance.
I also ran the pinewood derby for 7 years, a cub scout and boy scout leader. I was a driver for my daughters POMs events and dance classes. All my children did many things throughout high school and college in our community. My sons fixed old computers and they were given to the less fortunate in the community. My daughter had one of the highest amounts of hours of community service in high school.
I was active in the community. I helped the local Chamber of Commerce with membership events, I joined Rotary International and eventually started a new Rotary Club in my local community. I was a board member and President of my local crime stoppers board. I have started many fundraising campaigns and have been involved in many local charity events.
I also did many volunteering activities for my former employers. I spoke at many meetings with large and small groups. I interviewed over 75 promising new advisors. I was the compliance liaison for my region. I helped the firm with new locations for offices and had established new guidelines and standards. I was on my regional leadership team.

I know that I have failed my family, fiends and community and I deeply regret what I did.
I plan to get healthier and wiser and commit to be a better person than before during and after my sentence.

Thank you,
Ron Molo
