I was arrested in Mar of 2007 I was a police officer involved in a marijuana consp. I was charged with weed dist and the ever-dreaded 924c. I was given 2 stacked charges, 5 plus 25. I wouldn’t cooperate so they slammed me with a 360-month sent. for a non-violent, victimless crime. I was a 25 yr old kid. I did do wrong but not 360 months wrong. I’ve been down now for going on 17 yrs. started off in forrest city ark, and now I’m at a camp in Ashland. I’ve done everything I poss can to better myself and show my rehab. I’ve completed a year and a half welding program and became a cert welder thru the state of Ky. completed a HVAC program, earning my 608 certification with that program. also completed a 4000 apprenticeship thru the dept of Labor. That’s in quality cont that took me two yrs to earn. I have a clear conduct record……. I’m hopeful that when this Nov 1 amendments go thru I can go file under the excessive long sent clause. and get home after serv 17 in prison, esp now that the USSC has ruled under Taylor that not all 924cs are violent, My cert is not mine is simple possession.
