Biography Entry: Hendrix Montecastro

My name is Hendrix Montecastro; People call me “Monk.” My CDCR# is AS6243, and my address is CIM/Fac-C/Del Norte/#137, PO BOX 500, Chino, CA 91708. I was sentenced to 81 years and 8 months as a first-term nonviolent offender. I was incarcerated beginning February 2013, and my release date is on or about February 2052, although I go to parole consideration every January under the Board of Parole Hearings. I am incarcerated at CDCR. I have zero points and can be placed at a level 1 secured facility, but because the level 1 secured facilities at Tahachapi and Chino have been closed, I am currently housed at a level 2 facility.

I published my first book, “The Ultimate Fast Spanish Method”, which is presently on Amazon. It’s the only book of its kind that enables the learning to memorize over 4000 Spanish words with virtually no memorization by memorizing simple linguistic markers.

I was invited into Phi Theta Kappa while taking college classes at Cerro Coso Community College. I have straight A’s at that college, and three classes away from receiving an Associate Degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences and Arts and Humanities.

I have no disciplinary violations during my entire incarceration and have a multitude of laudatory chronos and letters from well-respected officers, chain of command, staff, professors and volunteers, even inmates.

I presently am in the Prison Pup Program and have placed dogs into service as trained service dogs for the disabled in partnership with Canine Support Teams. The website you build for me means a lot to me especially as I seek out a commutation, and am reviewed under the Board of Parole Hearings each year. I am also attempting to get resentenced under a new law: A.B. 600 & 1104 which would allow me to be resentenced to time served.
