Wike up at 4:50 AM. Made up my bed, cleaned up, changed to BOP uniform, and made a cup of coffee. Stretched, drank my coffee, and watched the local news and weather channel, high temperature for today is 97 degrees F. Started first load of laundry at 5:00 AM. Started walking at 6:10 AM. Breakfast was served at 6:20 AM. Breakfast menu: Cereal, muffin, apple, milk and punch.

Jay Rod started working in the laundry room at 6:30 AM. ServSafe Manager class from 7:30 – 8:30 AM. Bunk # 34 L returned a load of laundry and complained that it was still wet. We redid the laundry. Finished walking 6 miles in 1 hour 17 minutes and 50 seconds. Averaged 12 minutes 58 seconds per mile. The early morning walk was nice, cool and refreshing. I started with the dawn sky, which turn into a glorious sunrise and to an early morning sun in the sky. I completed my walk at 8:50 AM. Stretched until 9:20 AM. Lunch was served at 10:30 AM. Luncheon menu: Chicken sandwich, salad, beans, apple and punch. Called Doris at 10:45 AM. Doris is well after her shot yesterday. She talked to Thomas Johnson, who promised that he will mail a letter to me. Doris is doing a good job coordinating with Thomas Johnson. She was getting tired of all the doctors appointments that she gets weekly. But I reminded her that she has come a long way: Her mobility has improved and her stride is longer even though she does not notice it, her eyesight has improved, no bright lights, glare and fog, but she might need corrective lenses to see clearly in the future, probably in her next appointment with Dr. Lee. Also, her asthma is under control even though they cannot cure it. At our age any improvement in our health is good. The dogs are doing well and Chunk is being aggressive with Doris when she is handing out treats. Showered at 11:30 AM. Completed inmate laundry at 12:30 PM. Worked with Jay Rod in the sewing room to lay out the hangers for cabinets. Went to the library to read from 12:45 – 2:30 PM. Back to the unit at 2:30 PM. Received my Gambling In Prison Certificate ( EBRR Class). Washed a load of laundry for the barbershop. Census count at 3:30 PM. Dinner was served after the count. Dinner menu: pasta with ground meat, bread, salad, beans and punch. ACE Classes Psychology 4-4:30 PM, Religious Freedom 5-5:30 PM, and 12 Essential Scientific Concepts 6-6:30 PM. In Psychology, we learned about how to deal with stress. Medical stress – coping is a way to deal with it. There are two types of coping mechanisms – problem-focused coping and emotion-focused coping. Emotion Focus coping uses positive reinforcement and concentrates on personal growth to help others deal with the same issue. Maybe this can be applied to Doris to share her emotions of medical stress with others. Read at the library from 4:30 – 7:00 PM. Back to the unit at 7:00 PM. Census count at PM. Cleaned up at 8:00 PM. Census count at PM. Final census count at 9:30 PM. Went to bed at 10:00 PM.
Today was a good day: Doris is well but she is depressed from all her doctor’s appointments, but it has improved her mobility, and eyesight and control of her asthma. She contacted Thomas Johnson who is working on my restitution case. Walked 6 miles. The dogs are doing well. Attended ACE Classes and ServSafe Manager classes. Jay Rod worked hard today but was targeted by lots of inmates for some free sewing and products, we had to teach him how to say no to all of the freeloaders.
