My name is Richard Kevin Page I am 38 years old from Charlotte North Carolina, I came to prison in 2019 for selling drugs to support a drug habit I had prior to my arrest. During my years as a teenager and up till my early 30’s I suffered from the disease of addiction and poor criminal thinking, I lacked so much knowledge as to why I acted the way I did or what the root cause of my addiction really was. Prior to my arrest, I was blessed by my God with my first child who was such an external factor for me to get my life on track, Growing up without my biological parents around allowed me to realize how much I did not want my children to suffer like I did. So when I was in the county jail in Charlotte, NC I made a promise to God, Myself, and my daughter that this was the time I was going to straighten up my life and not look back. I ran into some of Mr. Santos’s books and was truly inspired by his actions and commitment to changing his life that I wanted to follow the same path he did. Prior to my arrest, the only work I knew was H.V.A.C ( Heating, Venting, and Air Conditioning) which I had done for almost 15 years on and off, so I chose to set my goals towards learning as much more of the trade and the business side while I was incarcerated, I started by completing the GED program, and then taking various business classes, I enrolled in California Coast University and took courses for a certificate in Business Administration, then I started taking HVAC classes to earn the credential’s I needed to carry with me in the field once I am released. I have taken various classes on self-help and ways to better myself upon release here at the current institution in fact I have taken every class offered currently. I also am completing the RDAP program as of 07-14-2023 and plan on staying to be a mentor/core member to assist the others coming into the program. I have been rebuilding healthy family relationships but do not have many family members left so I am totally starting my life over. I chose to cut ties with my past life and move forward with just one focus in my to succeed and provide a wonderful life for my daughter sadly her mother is in state prison until 2031 so I will be the sole provider for our daughter once I get out and reestablished so I have a lot to keep me focused but at the same time, I know I can never learn enough to better myself upon release. I look forward to any and all the help anyone can provide me with as I am eager to learn and promise whoever will invest time and effort into me will see I am as serious about change in my life and that I have the willingness to go the extra mile. I am an extremely hard worker who does not give up.
Thank you for your time reading this and may God bless you.
Respectfully,
Richard K. Page
