Journal Entry: Michael Santos-Artificial Intelligence & You

Journal Entry

If you’re facing challenges with the criminal justice system, start using Artificial Intelligence together with all the content available on our website at Prison Professors. It’s free.

I’m Michael Santos. I’m always striving to find new ways to make sense of the 26 years that I served in prison. The Prison Professors’ nonprofit exists to help people get the best possible outcome, regardless of what stage they’re in when going into the system. By publishing every day, I teach the strategies that worked for me. By studying great leaders, I developed tactics that helped me through 9,500 days in prison, and more importantly, helped me become financially successful after I got out.

Today, I use Artificial intelligence (AI) as a resource. I encourage others to use the amazing technology of AI Agents, together with all the information I publish on Prison Professors. They can build powerful tools that will assist them at every stage in the journey.

To use AI effectively, a person should build a knowledge base. Then, leverage the knowledge base to generate a body of work that will become an asset for self-advocacy.

Responding to a Criminal Charge

AI can process vast amounts of information, analyze your specific situation, and provide actionable insights. For instance, it can:

  • Research your charges within seconds, presenting potential penalties, legal rights, and strategies.
  • Summarize similar cases so you can understand how your situation might unfold.

Imagine this as your virtual advisor, guiding you through legal jargon and providing clarity. Tools like Lex Machina or legal AI services built on platforms like ChatGPT can create detailed reports tailored to your unique circumstances.

I encourage you to start building your AI knowledge base with resources like court documents, case studies, and legal guides. Also, use all the blogs I write on Prison Professors, and all the articles. Every bit of preparation today will strengthen your position tomorrow.

Preparing After Conviction

Whether you’re convicted through a plea agreement or trial, understand the process that will follow. The more you understand, the more competent you’ll become at engineering your AI Agent to help you prepare. If you know how to ask the right questions, AI can support you in shaping a strategy for your sentencing and incarceration. If you don’t know how to ask the right questions, work through all the content we publish at Prison Professors. We publish every day, and your AI Agent should learn from that content.

You can use AI tools to:

  • Review sentencing guidelines and provide tailored advice based on similar cases.
  • Extract insights from court transcripts or sentencing documents to prepare for the road ahead.
  • Develop a comprehensive mitigation strategy.

With AI, you can identify best practices more efficiently than ever. Using AI can bring you more clarity and direction. Again, I encourage you to leverage free resources from Prison Professors to upload sentencing guides, legal advice, and case examples into your knowledge base.  Use our free chat bot to get basic answers to your questions, then go deeper by reading all the articles. You’ll see how I prepared, and you’ll find the three promises I always make:

  1. I’ll never lie to you,
  2. I’ll never ask you to do anything that I didn’t do, and
  3. I’ll never ask you to pay a penny for anything on the Prison Professors website.

Building Comprehensive Mitigation Strategies

Use AI to help you develop a comprehensive mitigation strategy. Your strategy will evolve over time, otherwise it is not a good strategy. You must show how you’re working to reconcile with society. Show your grow over time, as I teach through the Prison Professors website.  The more you train your AI Agent, the more effectively it can provide:

  • Models for drafting letters, creating timelines of events, and organizing evidence of positive character traits.
  • Suggested narratives based on past successful mitigation efforts, helping elevate your arguments.

Today, with AI-enabled recommendations, you can create succinct, powerful presentations that highlight your strengths effectively.  You don’t need to hire anyone if you learn everything we offer for free. Prison Professors library will provide you the foundation you need.

Preparing for Prison

When I went into the prison system, I was only 23. I’d never been confined before and didn’t know what to expect. Today, AI can help you develop a plan that will work for you.

  • Learn about prison culture, policies, and programs.
  • Identify opportunities for skill-building or educational advancement.
  • Develop strategies to turn your time into a productive and meaningful phase of life.

Use Prison Professors’ guides alongside AI to create a personalized roadmap for your time in prison, prioritizing learning, health, and long-term reintegration plans.

Preparing for Successful Reintegration

For those who don’t prepare, it’s tough to return to society after a journey through prison. Good planning pays enormous dividends. Since I began planning at the start of my journey, I had financial resources to get started. Those resources opened new opportunities. You’ve got to create your personal plan, and do not underestimate the collateral consequences of a criminal conviction. Your AI agent will be enormously helpful in:

  • Identifying education programs, certifications, or job opportunities based on your strengths.
  • Suggesting step-by-step reintegration plans tailored to your career goals.

Using an AI Agent effectively will help you build a plan that you can follow through the journey. It can save you months or years of trial and error, especially if you use it together with all the information we provide for free on Prison Professors.

In closing, I encourage you to begin building your AI knowledge base, using resources from Prison Professors. Start small but think big. Think about the profile you can build on Prison Professors Talent, and think of how it can become a powerful asset for self advocacy. If you don’t know how, then you haven’t spent enough time on the website, or participated in the weekly interactive webinars. No one should work harder than you for your liberty, or your preparation for success.
