Journal Entry – Week of March 17
Monday, March 17:
The week kicked off bright and early at 7:30 am with the team diving into the Alvernon & 3rd Bike Blvd Improvements project. We were busy with shortline thermo, performed thermo, obliteration, and installing flex poles. Right from the start, it was clear that everyone was in sync, and that made the day go smoothly. I took on a mix of tasks, from applying thermal to problem-solving on the fly. It felt good to step in and help keep the pace going when challenges arose. By the time we transitioned to AZ Pavilion in Marana for stopbar and crosswalk painting, the team was really working as one unit. My focus was on making sure the lines were crisp, and I was glad to help keep things moving efficiently. We wrapped up a solid portion of the project by day’s end, which felt great.
Tuesday, March 18:
With Sean coming in at 1 pm, the focus for the day shifted to yard organization. The goal was to load the thermo truck and get everything ready for Friday’s work. I’ve always enjoyed getting the yard in order—it’s something I take pride in. Knowing where everything needs to go and optimizing space is something I’ve learned over the years. It’s all about making sure we’re set up for the next task. With Oso, Dillion, Matt, Cole, Sean, Anthony, and Gary all pitching in, we had the yard in perfect shape by the end of the day. When things are organized, it just makes the rest of the week flow that much smoother.
Wednesday, March 19:
Today was a bit quieter since Anthony and Gary were off. The rest of the crew worked in Marana on the Ora Mae Marana Park parking lot restripe, while Dillion and Oso handled the bike dots and thermo looks at Alvernon & 3rd. For me, today was all about improving our setup for the long term. The work trailer had been a bit chaotic, so I spent the day designing and building custom shelves. It wasn’t just about creating storage space—it was about creating a system that would make future projects run more smoothly. The shelves were a small change, but they’ll make a big difference in how we organize and access our tools and materials. It felt good to bring that level of efficiency to the team.
Thursday, March 20:
With Anthony off today, the rest of the team kept pushing through the Marana projects. Matt, Oso, and Cole focused on shortline obliteration, and they did an excellent job. I joined Sean, Gary, and Dillion for the Tangerine Detour longline layout and painting, followed by a restripe of the Marana longline paint. I enjoy the variety of tasks like layout and painting, so I bounced between the two, making sure everything was running smoothly and ahead of schedule. It’s nice to have that kind of versatility, where I can switch tasks as needed and keep the job moving forward.
Friday, March 21:
The week wrapped up with a busy day in Casa Grande, AZ, where the team worked on Ethington and Clayton longline and shortline thermo, as well as RPMs. With everyone
on-site—Sean, Gary, Matt, Dillion, Oso, Cole, and Anthony—we managed to get everything done on time. I took the lead in both the technical and logistical aspects of the project, making sure we stayed on track. By the end of the day, we had wrapped up the week with no delays, and I felt good about how everything came together.
Looking Ahead:
I’m looking forward to Friday when I’ll be back in the yard after spending Thursday working on the trailer shelves. My goal will be to continue streamlining operations by organizing the yard for next week. I’ve always believed that good preparation is key to a successful week. I’m excited to keep contributing and help ensure that everything runs smoothly for the team. Another productive week is on the horizon, and I’m ready for it.
