9/9/2024 Monday daily diary from Atwater camp.
Woke up at 5:30 AM. Made up my bed, cleaned up, changed to BOP uniform and made a cup of coffee. Stretched, drank my coffee and watched the local news and weather report, high temperature for today is 100 degrees F. Started walking at 5:50 AM. Breakfast was served at 6:45 AM. Breakfast menu: Oatmeal, cake, milk, sugar, apple and water (Harina de avena, torta, leche, ezucar, un manzana y agua).

The morning started out with call out for food service workers at 5:00 AM, They were headed out to the Penitentiary by 5:30 AM. The morning started out dark, hazy, breezy and cool. The beautiful dawn sky was on display with contrasting dark blue sky and sunlight peeking over the Sierras. As the morning progressed, the analogous colors were radiating out of the suns path: red, orange, yellow, light green, light blue and blue sky. The rabbits were grazing on the soccer and baseball fields, while Labrona and family were grazing by the fence near the basketball court. As the sun rise over the Sierras, the reddish orange sphere illuminated the outline of the Sierras giving it depth and creating a picturesque scene. The squirrels appeared after breakfast scurrying around begging for food from the inmates. Walked 3 miles before breakfast. Headed out to the front office at 6:50 AM. Arrived at Front Office at 7:10 AM. CO Leyva checked us into the Penitentiary. Went to laundry room: Got dirty uniforms from SHU, washed laundry for sections 3A & 3B, sorted out cleaned laundry for SHU, folded pants and shirts, put away uniforms. Went to commissary to pull merchandise for Camp Commissary. Cooked lunch” Beef with rice, chips and Sunkist orange. Pulled hygiene items for section 1B and SHU. Delivered cleaned laundry to sections: 3A and 3B. Left the penitentiary at 2:20 PM. Arrived at the dormitory at 2:30 PM. Counselor Reyes informed me that we will have a new inmate joining us today from the bus. Went to sewing room: prepared bus bag and repaired pants. GED/ESL tutoring from 2:30 – 3:30 PM. Administered test to Yovani Front Office for GED Math test Part 3 of 4. Census count at 3:30 PM. Dinner was served after the count. Dinner menu: turkey, green beans, bread, gravy and water. Checked email form Doris : Doris is well and rested. She walked 9605 steps, 16.1 inches step length and symmetry was 62%. Yesterday was the 230th consecutive days she closed the ring on her iPhone. She sold her first order on Etsy today. She will be at home walking in the backyard and working in her sewing room. ACE Class Constitutional Law 5-5:30 PM and Commutational Awareness 6-6:30 PM. Talked to Doris at 6:35 PM. Doris is well and rested. I told her I busy with laundry and pulling merchandise for camp commissary as well as hygiene commissary for the Penitentiary. Also GED/ESL tutoring. I was still waiting for the two new inmates to show up at the camp. and have yet to finish my journal. One new inmate arrived at the camp and I processed him. Census count at 7:30 Pm. Census count at 8:30 PM. Cleaned at 9:00 PM. Final Census count at 9:30 PM. Went to bed at 10:00 PM.
Today was a good day: Doris is well and rested. She walked 9605 steps, 16.1 inches step length and symmetry was 62%. Yesterday was her 239th consecutive days she closed the ring on her iPhone. She made a sale on her Etsy account. Walked 3 miles and stretched. Had an appointment with Mr. Larsen on Wednesday. Attended ACE Classes. Good GED/ESL Tutoring sessions.
