Release Plan
March 31, 2025
Dear President,
I would like to apologize to the United States and the community of Hawaii for the choices I made in the past to involve myself in a conspiracy to distribute mehamphetamine and money laundering. In January of 2009, Hawaii court sentenced me to 384 months (32 years) in prison. I was about 23 years old at that time. I am now 41 years old. I have served over 17 years of this sentence. Factoring in Good Conduct Time I will earn I have served about 62% of my total sentence. My current release date is 3/5/2034.
Projected Release Planning:
Good behavior and program participation can influence an earlier transition to home confinement. I know that if I avoid disciplinary infractions, my unit team will award Good Conduct time. Also through the First Step Act I am able to earn, Earned Time Credit. I have earned an additional 1570 days towards my pre-release. Residential Re-enty/Home Confinement.
Background:
My parents did not raise me to be a criminal and I knew better than to engage in the type of conduct that lead me to problems with the law. My parents are law-abiding citizens. I tried to live up to my parents expectation but in this instance I failed. As a young woman I aspired to do more with my life then to end up in prison. I applied myself in school and earned good grades. At age 17, I started dating someone who was selling drugs, who I later married. I involved myself in a Drug Conspiracy and Money Laundering Conspiracy. I used my intelligence for the wrong reasons.
I know the United States will have a Pre-sentence investigation report and other documents that describe my crime. I have filed numerous motions throughout the years trying to reduce my sentence. Most recently, I filed a motion in 2021 due to the Covid Pandemic. Although my offense involved a large amount of methamphetamine, there is no indication on my PSR that there was any violence or threat against anyone. I have no criminal history prior to this case.
Making Amends:
I understand my duty and responsibility to make things right. While serving my sentence I have become a more mindful person and I am conscious of my responsibility to follow rules. By participating in self-directed learning programs and those directed by Unit team, I intend to re-enter the community as a law-abiding productive citizen.
Rehabilitation:
To reconcile with society I know I would have to do more with my time in prison. I have found ways to live with meaning, relevance, and usefulness. I hope you will see beyond the surface of my current circumstances and consider the totality of my life. I deeply regret my actions and the consequences that they have entailed. I have repentance and have strived to rectify my wrongdoing. I accept the consequences of my actions and have viewed my time in prison as a time for reflection and a way to become a better person.
While incarcerated I have done all in my power to make amends for my wrongdoings and have looked for ways to use my talents in a positive and lawful manner. I contribute to the community within the prison to provide some measure of amends for the harm I’ve caused. I have tutored other people serving sentences so that they may advance their education. I was an ESL (English-as-a-Second Language) tutor in the Education Department for about 7 years. Where over the years over 80 people have passed the class and graduated. I started working in the Safety Department in 2017, where I taught Floor Maintenance and Forklift Classes to my peers as a translatable job skill. Throughout my stay I have taught over 100 people to do Floor Maintenance and Drive a forklift. I have also taught many fitness and wellness classes at the Recreation Department for about 10 years like Step Aerobics, Nutrition, Yoga, and Walking. I have also taught a Fine Arts class through the Recreation Department for over 10 years. I love teaching and empowering women to learn more about themselves and become better people.
Classes I have taken:
I have taken classes to address some of my trauma issues like Women’s Relationships, Trauma in Life, Seeking Safety, and Resolve this has helped me become aware of the influences that led me to prison. I am currently in the FIT program which is a Modified Therapeutic Community that helps with Trauma. I am learning about Criminal thinking errors and ways to combat this type thinking and foster change.
Medical Prescriptions:
I currently take Fluxotine 40 mg everyday for anxiety and depression. I use an Albuterol inhaler for asthma. I also take Famotidine as needed for GERD.
Substance abuse:
I have a history of Substance abuse, but I believe I have that under control now.
Financial Obligations:
I have met all my financial obligations imposed by the court.
Risk and Needs Assessment:
Based on my last team review. I have no needs that can influence criminal behavior. My Pattern Risk Score is -14. I am classified as minimum custody.
Personal Plan:
I plan to work in an office environment as that is what I am most familiar with. I am good with auditing files, keeping logs, inventory, record keeping, I am highly organized, and can teach classes. I have an Associate’s Degree in Business and one in Social and Behavioral Sciences. I plan on continuing my education and earning a Bachelor’s in Busiess. I would like to work for a Business or a Non-Profit that helps women transitioning back to society. I believe with the amount of time I have served I have a good understanding of women’s needs upon re-entering society. I think it is a important to help women releasing from prison.
Community Support:
I plan on living with my parents and 2 adult children at 4629 Diamond Head Dr. Las Vegas, NV 89110. They have expressed a desire to help me financially with living plans. They have a stable living environment and own their own home.
