Journal Entry

So my dad has said to me, “Bill, there are no do-overs in life,” words that I have understood and always keep in mind. So, when I think of the federal prisons, and what kinds of changes could be done to ease some of this over crowding, as well as a way to reward individual with low recidivism rates. Why not implement something called the Do-over Act, which would give people that opportunity to get a chance to get out early after earning and completing a program that would be reflective of their low-recidivism, low custody, and good behavior. It could even go as far as letting an individual out early, by allowing that person to follow some strict guidelines in regards to their release. Additionally, if the person failed, they could face a five or ten year enhancement for their violation. The whole idea is to hang that time over their head, giving that person a chance to to either make it or fail at it. Of course, the whole goal would be for them to make it and there would be programs in place to help them succeed. If a person is really serious about wanting to get out and change their life than they should be willing to put in the work that help them achieve success. So my response to my dad, “maybe there are do-overs in life.” I miss my Dad!
