Participate in our course: Preparing for Success after Prison and you’ll get great insight into the lessons that powered me through a 45-year sentence, and allowed me to return to society, build businesses, and work toward advocacy to improve outcomes for all justice-impacted people. I’ll do my part to work toward reforms that allow people to earn freedom through merit, but I need help from all members of our community. Document your journey. The reentry blueprint stands on four pillars, each representing a critical aspect of the journey back to freedom:

- Employment: Securing meaningful work is essential for stability. It’s not just about earning a living; it’s about contributing to society and finding purpose.
- Community: Rebuilding connections and establishing a support network is vital. These relationships offer guidance, support, and a sense of belonging.
- Well-being: Physical, mental, and emotional health are crucial for resilience. They enable one to face challenges with strength and clarity.
The Steps to Success
The journey of reentry is a series of deliberate steps, each one taken with the destination in mind:
- Preparation: Before release, preparation is key. It involves setting goals, acquiring skills, and planning for the immediate needs upon release.
- Transition: The transition phase is about adjustment. It’s a time to apply the skills learned, to navigate the challenges, and to start building a new life.
- Stabilization: Once the initial transition is managed, the focus shifts to stabilization—securing housing, employment, and establishing routines.
- Advancement: With stability comes the opportunity for advancement. This is the stage of setting new goals, pursuing further education, and seeking career growth.
