Mentor Moment.
Outside in the ‘recreation box’ everyone tends to click up with the guys they either know from occasion or whom they relate to based on appearance. As I gazed up to the sun to reflect on a moment of gratefulness I noticed another guy standing a lone as well… let’s just call him R… from afar he appeared to be young in age. I Kindly approached him asking his name as I introduced myself… Next I asked his age and I was spot on… he was barely age 20… I was shocked so I offered my advice – I said, “brother I do not know exactly why you are detained at the moment, however, you are far too young to be at any place. Such as this.” He smiled and thanked me. I said, “No man I am absolutely serious – when you get back to the pod you need to write your life plan & goals, but be sure to include changing your friends and environment immediately”. He replied by saying, “yes man seriously, thanks that’s a great idea because Iam here for a drug conspiracy a friend looped me into.” I reminded him to forgive himself and to learn from the entire experience…w talked briefly in detail about his goals and where he was from. Ironically we always passed each other on our visitation days, but never got the opportunity to connect. This time the timing was divine.
