Journal Entry: Tammy Halling-02/24/2025-Compassionate Release

Journal Entry

Many of us know someone who has filed for a compassionate release but seldom do we know someone who has been granted one. Today I received an email from my attorney telling me to call him. I filed a compassionate release Jan of 2024 and been waiting patiently for a response.

Many of you know that I have a sentence of 110 years. I no longer have that sentence. I was granted a sentence reduction today. I wont be going home tomorrow or even next week. They reduced my sentence by 70 years. That means my 110 year sentence went to 40 years.

With good time of 8 years approximately that makes it 32 years. In May of this year I will start my 21st year. That leaves me approximately 12 years left to do.

I do not qualify for FSA, but I do for the 2nd Chance Act…..and if elderly release comes back that too, in 4 years, at age 60….I am 56 years old….and for the first time since I hit the prison system I can see a light at the end of the tunnel.

My next step is to refile my clemency. I can only hope and pray that too will help me go home. When I get my clemency # I will be asking for letters of support. I hope that some of you if not all will write a letter on my behalf…..

Thank you to those of you who have stood by me, supported me, and now share in my joy.
