Journal Entry

I am in FIT and RDAP and I am in phase 3 I have learned so much. When I came into the program I said I am too old to change anything, I don’t think you have anything to offer me…Ha Ha that was so not true..I am 58 Year old Meth Addict how do I begin…I will post daily and share what I learn from this program.

My first phase I was in denial and not sure you can teach an old dog new tricks…Well, that has come and gone. Let’s start with Community “MTC” (Modify Therapeutic Community) It’s where peers come together with one goal in mind to help each other grow, heal and change. We all have this in common in the MTC, now don’t get me wrong we are not all in the same place as far as change goes, some don’t want to change, some try a little and some are 100 percent all the way in and you know what they say you get out what you put in…That is the truth.

It was hard at first to be in open dorm for me but everyone is nice and welcoming.

Then Anger Management I am the type of person who doesn’t think before I react and yelling, intimidation, and releasing my anger by physical aggression was how I got my point across most of my life. Little did I know others don’t communicate like that, all my friends did. Impulse control I had none, I felt emotion and reacted and thought about the end result or consequences after the fact and usually it was to late. I am sorry was not in my vocabulary. I couldn’t even say the word. So for me Anger Management changed my outlook on how I react to anger towards others.

Next time I will talk about the Criminal Thinking Errors and Common Thinking Errors and 8 Positive Attitudes as well as RSA and Attitude Checks…
