Aging offenders, especially those with medical conditions, face more challenges than their young peers.
Nelson Mandela is a great role model who in a remote area of the world, was incarcerated and isolated at Robbeneiland in a prison that cannot be compared in any shape or form to the prison systems of the Western world, until an advanced age.
Being an educated man, a brilliant lawyer, he knew that he did not get that far in his career without having a thorough routine, schedule, goal list and most importantly a positive mindset and spirit.
He kept his spirit high, made sure he exercised, kept strong, studies, communicated AND prayed. He kept envisioning life as a free man again and success became part of his life once more, not as a lawyer anymore but as President of a new South Africa, battling ‘Apartheid’ (segregation).
So my dear readers: Dream realistic dreams, jot down SMART goals every day, keep track of your health, wellness, educational goals.
Do not let a day go by without learning something new and having a good “belly laugh” even if is just about yourself.
Greet everyone with warmth and a smile, it is a definite game changer. There are no more infectious things than laughter and smiling.
Have a vibrant day!
