Understaffing and incidents occurring on a daily basis in prisons, are the cause of multiple lockdowns. After COVID, everyone is “over” lockdowns. Every person that went through this a couple of years ago, knows how disruptive this was. In prison, we encounter many lockdowns, sometimes on a daily basis.
Most people catch up on well-deserved sleep, especially this seems to be the only occasion when there is some genuine “quiet time”. (Prisons are loud environments per definition).
But, don’t sleep your day away, Try to be productive and finish writing or scrapbooking for your child(ren) and loved ones.
There is an entire movement out there, since COVID, that we have started writing letters and cards again. We may be limited in phone minutes and computer minutes are costly and add up so quickly, but a card or letter will only cost you a small amount but give endless pleasure to the addressee.
Think of writing small notes for your child(ren), so their caregiver can actually put these in places, your child(ren) will least expect them. What a surprise from a parent, albeit not physically present.
Make good use of these “down” moments and give them an upwards twist!
