The Maxwell Daily Reader: Focus on the things you can do something about today.
During my imprisonment, I find difficulties dealing with adversity on a daily basis. Whether it be by security lockdowns, volatile situations, drug abuse, criminal activities, and much more. My priority is to be as productive as possible, regardless of my external circumstances. Every day I’m learning to find more ways to stay on track to make progress in my personal life. Today, I put forth the effort toward steps of progression, avoiding negativity, staying out of trouble, and making the right decisions, even when no one is looking.
Daily Reflections: We are not cured of alcoholism and drug addiction. What we really have is a daily reprieve contingent on the maintenance of spiritual condition.
I have to remind myself that I cannot continue my recovery without spiritual support. Building a relationship with my higher power is the key to fulfilling my goals of sobriety and success after prison. The more I become spiritually connected with God, the more I find peace in my life. It brings solace to finally come to a realization that I’ve always had my Savior by my side.
