Today’s lesson in PSAP was about emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence is very important in Prison. Just yesterday I was in the records office trying to get an unknown disposition figured out. The CO down there went out of his way to be rude and disrespectful. Earlier on in my sentence that would have really bothered me and might have gotten me in trouble. The CO either lacked emotional intelligence or emotional maturity, or both. Which is not a good look. That’s all I thought when I left the office. If I let my emotions get the best of me, and then start making decisions, I’m am guaranteed to regret my actions later. When I’m released, the kind of people I’m going to need in my network are going to need to trust that I’m capable of exercising emotional intelligence when making important decisions with my company. It was a good lesson and I appreciate timing.
