Chapter 21 of PSAP is a good chapter on critical thinking. It talks about the importance of critical thinking in Prison, and how developing critical thinking skill will help contribute to success after prison. The first open ended question was how do you understand the concept of critical thinking. To me critical thinking is understanding the difference between wanting to be right, and wanting to achieve the desired outcome. Wanting to be right is an ego thing, and people argue their point because they want the validation. But what’s more important? Being right, or getting what you want? I would rather be wrong about something, but still achieve my goal by considering a perspective that I didn’t see right away, or that I needed help seeing. I want my business to succeed. I’m ok with not knowing everything. I will remember this lesson when the time comes to pivot or persevere.
