My son flew out from Florida to visit, so that took 9-3, though both us had to wait till 11 to meet, due to visitor department administrative mistakes, as did many others! But didn’t stop us from having a great visit, as always!
Great to see him and catchup, especially after the new baby 3 weeks ago. He looked more tired than usual, which is understandable:) I always make a list of items to discuss (then memorize as I can’t bring in) for a visitor so I remember to cover everything, but as usual, forgot a few things.
It was crazy waiting for our 3:30 lockdown watching TV when Trump’s assassination’s attempt occurred. Especially when watching surrounded by inmates. The ” animal ” behavior definitely came out. Thankfully he’s ok, will be an interesting 2-3 months until election that’s for sure!
Skipped dinner and went outside at 5 to workout, only to find out the weight area is shut down as a penalty from the afternoon guys. It’s so annoying how guards punish everyone for what a few PISA’s do, covering their faces with ski masks to protect from the sun. They just won’t listen nor care. I could write on and on about rule following …. It also seems silly after Covid/mandatory masks at BOP that it now makes masks such a big issue now. Oh well, welcome to my world!
Sunday, July 14
Sunday’s the library from 7-12:30 straight are the quietest times, the only quiet time other than lights out. It’s so nice to sit, think, read, write in peace!
Sad thing happened today, and so unfair. The BOP does random urine testing, which it needs to, and not being able to pee into a cup in 2 hours is a serious offense, almost like escape attempts. Seriously. The new guy, 67 years old, who is basically too nice for his own good in my estimation, and certainty not a druggie anyways, got a 7am call for a test. Well 2 hours apparently went by and he couldn’t do it. So he immediately went into the SHU for 60 days, and has no phone or visitors for 90 days. Feel terrible for him, just a rule he got caught in. Almost happened to me one time, I had 10 minutes to spare, but I hadn’t realized the consequences, whew!
After 12:30-2 church, lockup, workout, and a couple phone calls. That’s a wrap!
Monday, July 15
We knew this week would start off with a scheduling mess and weren’t disappointed! The first floor of our unit had everyone move over one cell, including bedding, clothes, food etc. What a disorganized mess that was:) Our second floor is tomorrow so assume Wednesday for third floor. The rest of the unit goes into lockdown in our cell while all this goes on each time, so no library or yard each morning. At least I found a quiet table for once afterwards to do some writing rather than have the mornings be a total waste of time.
Rest of the day was outside, about 33% productivity unfortunately and no phone calls again during the day. Good news is I got several court filings recently from my attorneys, about 500 pages, so kept me busy all evening as well!
Tuesday, July 16th
My cell moving day wasn’t too bad, we were done by 7:30am. Ironically at 7:30 the Lieutenants office called me down for an off property hearing test, which was ordered by medical 3 months ago. I told them I literally had an 8am medical appointment today to deliver my old hearing aids for shipment back for repair today:) Oh well… Also was to have my medical meeting on my auto immune issues as a follow-up from Friday at 8-9:30. Unfortunately the Doctor I met with didn’t have my Doctors’ letter and wouldn’t accept my copy. Per ” Policy”, he wants medical records directly from my doctor which is what was sent ,received and lost. I’m supposed to follow up in a month and see if they received the requested records……
Rest of the day was normal for once, so stayed inside caught up on phone calls. Also doing deep dive on appeal legal info I received yesterday. Kind of surreal to go back and read the various motions, judges ruling and so forth.
Wednesday, July 17
For some reason in the unit all day till 5 pm. Got lots of legal analysis done, but hard with all the noise inside. At least got a decent workout in, skipping dinner. Pretty fascinating watching all the Presidential election dynamics!
Thursday/Friday, July 18/19th!
Finally getting back to normal schedule-library, workout, etc. Really crystallized my legal strategy with options , getting typed for counsel/family(yes typing is a thing:)) including my appeal notes for my legal call end of month. Plan for Sunday is to get all this detailed stuff done so I’m freed up next week to focus on more book chapters.
Unfortunately learned from counsel they never received my certified letters I sent a couple weeks ago. Sending am email to chase that, though can’t say I’m surprised given all the stories I hear from others. I have a friend in Portland who received my envelope in the mail empty and didn’t get the last letter I sent. But my girlfriend and partner and daughter and son seem to get their mail. go figure!
One more month till my suspension is over!
Praying for Freedom and Liberty and to see my Family and Friends soon! BJ
