What changes in America’s prison system would you like to implement?
1. First, People should be able to earn more time off their sentences by good behavior, earning a College degree, completing an apprenticeship program, helping other inmates learn new skills.
2. Second, dramatically expand the educational opportunities including apprenticeship programs. Every prison should offer all the educational and apprenticeship programs.
If the BOP is really interested in reducing recidivism these two things need to happen.

Lompoc Low has a very small educational footprint, in fact all the college courses offered have long waiting lists. This gives inmates wanting to improve themselves the feeling nobody cares.
