I am getting ready to transfer back to my region and about ten months before I go too a halfway house. I am currently Texarkana Texas and have tried to get them to engage in some type of post secondary education. As the BOP is so antiquated in technology it has been a soup sandwich. I have a B.S. in Sociology for Oregon State University(2016). also I have 36 Graduate Credits from the College Student Service Administration(CSSA)(2017) program. I am a Newman Civic Fellows Award Winner from 2016 also.
My credits have timed out and I have some resources through individuals in Academia that will help me with the petition. I have taken 4000 hour building Maintenance apprenticeship here, So my skill set has something to fall back. I love academia.
I am fearful after having succeeded as I did too come back out and start all over. I was a member of the Governors Reentry Council for the Department of Corrections: Education Implantation Team(2013-2015) Under Greg Hamann.
I am going back to Oregon and know it will be a struggle. I appreciate the newsletter and info. It is very helpful and encouraging. I have remained clean and sober since my arrest and it is my choice I know.
