The one thing that helps your time pass is keeping a routine while you are on the inside. Now this can mean different strokes for different folks. Some like to just play cards and watch TV. Some like to do things that are against the rules and i would rather not say what they are besides they are against the rules. Everybody in here has there own way of doing time. Me i have a routine made up of activities that invest in myself that will help me to invest in my future. to help my reentry into society. They consist of working at Unicor as a truck driver and a clerk in the shipping and receiving department. Another thing is I work on my Bible studies. I read books and do book reports on this. I attend church and i also attend Bible study classes 4 days a week. The next thing i work on is my sobriety. This is a little harder to do in here since there is absolutely no classes for that here. But having had a chance to go to rehab then live in a sober living home for almost a year and a half before i had to self surrender to the BOP i had a chance to learn the tools i would need to maintain a sober life style. I talk with other people who struggle with drugs or alcohol i share my experiences and do whatever i can to carry the message to the next person. This is the 12th step of the 12 steps of AA. I was encouraged to journalize this after reading “My 8444th day” by Michael Santos. I will make a lay out of how my typical day goes to show that i spend nearly every waking minute working on something that benefits me in some type of way. No matter what it may be. There is always something to work on. I struggled at first because i was waiting for classes to open up for me to take. But To this day i have been on the waiting list for about 8 different classes and nothing ever opens up. But then i learned i don’t have to wait i can read a book about a subject I’m waiting on i can do other things until that class opens for me. Its up to me to make things happen not the BOP. If i wait on the BOP i will get nothing done. I need to step up and get it done myself.
