Journal Entry: Peter J Haslinger-06/26/2024-Upholding Self Respect

Journal Entry

After reading today’s newsletter I couldn’t agree with Mr. Santos more. Upholding self respect while your incarcerated is one of the most important things we deal with. It can be the toughest challenge. When you’re in an environment like this it’s critical to pay attention to the respect you have for yourself and others (both staff and inmates). When I am released from here I want to be able to mingle with the people that will have a stake in my future. That is the goal. To be able to hold conversations with them and showing them that I am worth their time. That I’m no longer part of the lifestyle I once was part of. And it all starts with how you respect yourself. Your self-worth, your self values, and your self respect should be worked on everyday. The way you talk the way you think and the way you carry yourself reflects onto others. If you think of yourself a certain way you best be sure that others see you the way you perceive yourself. I’m still waiting on the books that are coming from PPT. Can’t wait to get here to read about how Mr. Santos did it. I’m here to pave my road to success. It’s a plan laid out before my self-surrender. It’s an everyday process even after I get home.
